I think you raise a decent point there Mick....I believe a lot of clubs are going to be suffering more so then Albion even with the £11m they get.
If fans are allowed back in it will be on a greatly reduced level...and many will not survive in this environment for too long. Finance is in a very serious position for over 90% of clubs now...and looks set to get worse....wages may take a dive this summer...
£120m a year roughly I believe.
If we don't go up our finances would still be in a lot better shape than most of the other clubs, Bournemouth and Villa have big wage bills and will lose their better players all the other clubs will have to sell players to survive, squads will be a lot smaller and clubs will be forced to play a lot more youngsters.
If we do go up all the promoted clubs will have to pay £8m , to offset the Media losses of the covid shutdown for this season's teams including the relegation clubs .
Thanks for that Boys ,
There's also the bigger matter to consider of Chinese ownership of all clubs. With tensions and tit for tat actions only increasing between the West and China for the foreseeable, I wonder what impact that will have if or when China turns the screw on foreign investments?
As Lloyd has mentioned, even if we go up they're looking at a promotion levy. Not just that but should we be relegated future parachute payments will only be for two years. This will have a direct contractual impact on player recruitment on promotion in the first instance. Tougher financial times ahead even if we gain promotion. I'm not going to worry about what happens if we don't unless it comes to pass. It's not an appetising prospect.
I guess it’s all relative though.
All of the clubs in our “yo-yo” bracket will be impacted just the same so in essence we’lll just be even more worse off against the to clubs.
According to my paper yesterday 1400+ pro players are out of contract at the end of this season so it’s going to make it a buyers market to some extent and this could lower wages.
I’d like to see it mean more youngsters get their chance rather than Clinton Morrison and Grant Holt being linked with us this summer!
