FAO Phil D & other Smethwickites

Is the A457 bus lane active on the dual carriage from the Rolfe Street train station?

I have not yet seen any signage to say that you cannot enter and I have not noticed any CCTV monitoring the lane. But for now I've kept well out of it anyway. All i've seen is BUS LANE marked on the carrageway. When schools and business's get back in September that road is gonna be a nightmare.

I didn't notice any signs or warnings of enforcement cameras at all yesterday and only saw the bus lane signs on the road and then noticed no one else was in front or behind me in the same lane and then I got out of it. I never drive in a bus lane knowingly, just saw no signs at all.

I drove that same way exactly 3 weeks ago and there was nothing there at all then, do you when they did it, as I cannot find any information on the sandwell Council website or any reporting about it in local rags when doing a general search on google, which is strange as they must have gone through some consultation?

Its all part of a "masterplan" which has included making Smethwick High Street on way. Not got a clue how it is supposed to work. One of the reasons given was to give more room for cyclists and pedestrians, but last I heard all that had happened was the shopkeepers were using the extra space to put more stuff outside the shops
