'Howdy painted a sob story of hardworking folk losing their hard earned to Virgin and the money going straight in the back pocket of Branson. Complete rubbish. Virgin are cutting 3,500 jobs. This is about trying to protect jobs of ordinary hard working people in the holiday industry.'

It's you who doesn't get it. How many consumers who are waiting for refunds have lost THEIR jobs. Should they forego their cash to save 3500 employees of Virgin? There's going to be 3/4/5 million people who lose their livelihoods.

You seem to think that consumers should foot the bill. They paid for holidays. They didn't get one.

As for Virgin and liquidity. Reports do suggest Virgin was already struggling. Do we think air travel will return to the same levels in the next 2 years? It seems shareholders and government won't bail them out. If it's a busted flush it needs to go into administration.

You can't be the decision maker in your business. No way. Get in the real world. Or you're just arguing just for the sake of it.

J2 were in good shape financially. Virgin were nearly bankrupted and got a £1.2bn bail out loan. Tui got a €1.8bn bailout from the German government. One of the conditions for the Tui loan is they couldnt make refunds until trade is back up and running.

The Sykes case was interesting. Looks like they changed policy on refunds through consumer pressure. The Competition and Markets Authority say customers should not be left out of pocket yet admit 'holidays could not go ahead due to Government restrictions'. So holiday companies are not at fault yet liable.

My point is that if customers push for refunds it could bankrupt the industry and no one wins.
Pretty sure UK regulations state money should be returned in a given time frame if a refund is requested, in the EU they seem to be cutting across consumer rights allowing vouchers ...reason #1,9543,964 for leaving

Never liked holidays and don't like tourists. Meeting new people must be the most overrated pastime ever as they are just the same as all the other w*nkers you already know. Stay at home and please, please stay out of my village.

There is a saying about every village having one so with you being there it seems there's no place for me but beware, Mrs CA has been looking at properties in your area as she liked the look of what she saw from our daughter's recent holiday in the area.

That's not very nice, Cam. You and Mrs CA would be welcomed with open arms. We could bore the ladies to death with tales of great Millers moments. I think you'd like Warton but hummingbirds are few and far between. Still, there is the NHS - or what's left of it.
