A centre half, a creative midfielder (although in Saturday's system Glass and Mochrie would shine in place of either Pawlett or Harkes) and a left footed wide player (top priority!).

Bolton looked good on Saturday, really direct, could even see him playing in the wing back role in Saturday's system

I think we'll see a back 4 again on Saturday. Bolton coming in for Neilson and playing right midfield in front of Smith.

Going by how he spoke when he signed for Hibs, even if we'd have had a bid accepted, he would have chosen Hibs over us. Looks like he grew up a Hibee. Would have liked to see him at Tannadice.

Did he not turn down Hearts who were offering more money?

At least we seem to be active in the transfer market now. Just unfortunate with the arbitration and time without a manager it stalled things.

Agree with that, we've been well handicapped with the sh1tstorm that's gone on.
But.... we have LC games in October which will definitely help MM to continue building his side and his style, with the addition of players yet to arrive.

I tend to agree with you regarding the players before, but we are a totally different era from then, and doesnt MM deserve the benefit of the doubt under the new regime? Alex Nichols should not count in this as im sure he was non league, and what we are talking about here is 3rd tear doon sooth which our new manager knows very well.

I have a bit of sympathy about what happened to Connolly at the weekend, but the evidence is out there that he is involved in far too many incidents that lead to cheap goals against. And throughout the close season, the defence is where all contributors identify and issue for this season.

I've had a look at the BBC reports for last season. I've also had a look at several Blackpool messageboards.

There's no talk of Edwards on the groups - certainly not as titles for threads. They aren't exactly hives of activity, mind...

The BBC reports give me more cause for concern. The stats show he made 21 appearances. There are two big gaps in the season, though: the first was around the end of August, he came off in a match after 55 mins and was benched for around a month. The match report doesn't say why, I'm guessing it was a niggling injury, though; the second was for a longer spell in early 2020 and he actually dropped out of the squad for a few matches.

Now, it could be niggling injuries (an issue in itself) or it could point to a player who wasn't the top pick in defence.

Hopefully with a period of inactivity and time to prepare over the past month any injury issues have passed and he can fit into our back line relatively quickly.
