I love Nick Cave. He's taken a lot of stick from PC people about issues in his songs over the years and I can see his point of view. However, I think that (as one of the critics of Cave's thoughts points out) that Cave is conflating PC criticism of his art with the 'cancel culture' which as I understand it, is about public responses to individual or corporate policies or attitudes that many of the public don't like and commentators urge to boycott etc. I love Cave's work, much as I love many other forms of art that some call un-PC!
The whole 'cancel culture' thing seems conflated and unintelligible to me. It seems like an attempt in itself to cancel free speech and consumer choice. I thought we were living in a 'free market of ideas'?!
