If you are really interested why not read back. But I suspect youre not.

What make me laugh is that youve pointed the finger at Roly for turning it political. Earlier someone blamed rage. Just simply not true.

Out of interest I looked back to see why it turned political and angry yet again (putting aside the earlier exchanges about Virgin and holiday refunds - what do you make of my post about Virgin applying for bankruptcy protection in the US courts btw). I must admit I was involved.

I made a comment about the spread of Spanish Flu but applied the wrong date. The usual suspects of gm, kerr and howdy jumped on me with predictable smart ar*e comments and taunts (you can see the exchanges from the post dated 13.08.20 at 9.03). So, some posters where already in a state of heightened tension looking to sling mud.

At a similar time Grist made a reference to migrant worker bringing in the virus (see the exchange between grist and me post dated 13.08.20 at 11.29). All pretty reasonable at that stage I thought.

My reply to Grist prompted Howdy to ask me whether Id be prepared to house these poor unfortunate souls (see his post 13.08.20 at 1.51). This comment is current and political and aimed at silencing those who show simpathy to illegal migrants and asylum seekers. Howdy knew what he was doing and, I think, attempted to turned the thread political with that comment.

My reply to him seemed to cause meltdown with gm, crashbang and howdy (its dated 13.8.20 at 2.18 - read it - let me know what you think).

It prompted crashbang to reply. Howdy responded to crashbangs with a post dated 13.8.20 at 2.53.* This, as I see it, is the first political post.

If you are interested then read back and let me know what you think. Am I right or am I applying bias.

Yes youre right. It would have taken too long long to separate out all the different posts through that oeriod so lumped it together.

I think the real problem with this site is that the majority would like there to be a regular supply of immigration threads that attack migrants and hold them as responsible for all of the problems we face. This would only come from three or four posters who would start them, and quickly confirm the validity to one another whilst others silently nod agreement. Thus the viewpoints would quietly disappear having gained unchallenged validity.

Some of these threads are interesting and well founded and argued. However, some of us find it hard to let such posts go if they contain dubious, challengable claims. Hence so many threads becoming ding dong. I would suggest that if posters want to avoid so many political threads or threads going off topic, they should challenge the people who start the threads or crowbar migration/race comments into as many posts as they can?
