A honeymoon period it was not he started the campaign with a weaker side than Neilson had before lockdown in March and we were awful at that time to boot.I doubt in the history of the Premier league from 75/76 has a manager started a season after promotion with so few new players added to the squad yet he has still managed 7 points from 12 and won away against last season's 3rd best team in Scotland.
Its no exaggeration to say if Tony had made the wrong choice we could have been joint bottom today with no points from 4 games.
He's definitely in his honeymoon period with the fans.

That is very true Terence. When i spoke to the bairns yesterday before the game the unanimous verdict was a point would be brilliant with the players available, fortunately the manager thought different.

What i mean is, everything seems to be coming off just now for him. The setup, the rotations, the giving youth a chance. yeah the positive feeling he brings is brilliant cant lie but if we go on a bad run and are near the bottom people will naturally start to question some of the stuff that so far he has done well in.

Remember everyone loved the way RN talked when he first came in. he had some good early results with the players he had. It happens to all managers. MM has done really well so far but lets not get ahead of ourselves and expect too much.
Darren, expectation this season is simply survival, and getting points on the board as early as possible not only gives the team confidence, but obviously helps the cause. I don’t for a minute think it will be an easy task, but I like the way it’s started, and very much doubt Micky will create problems for himself. It will be due to other teams simply being better, or not getting the breaks, and we’ll just take that on the chin.

In the Championship, we were the top team and should have been aiming to steamroller the other teams every week, but after a great start where we had something like a 12 or 13 game unbeaten run, our master tactician started to overthink things, then took a more cautious approach, changing players, formation and tactics, that started to undo all that great work. That led to the players and team losing confidence, and from then on, it was a mixed bag of results. Any manager worth their salt, would have kept the same team, formation, and tactics, and simply instructed the team to continue going out and kill the game asap every week.
Before anyone jumps in with a comment about injuries, Robbie was notorious for putting square pegs in round holes, so rather than swap a like for like player when injured, he would change the team/formation to fit around the player he wanted to play, which was utter madness, and we saw the effect that had. I rest my case!

4 games 4 goals 2 wins in big league, compared to 4 goals, 1 win in our last 7 in the championship.

With pretty much same squad and without our top player, digest that for a minute.

Yep a much better start than anyone expected. Three very tough fixtures coming up though. Be good to get some bodies back, and a couple of quality signings too.

    Next 3 are Celtic H, Kilmarnock A, Rangers A

Hopefully squad recovered from injuries for the 9 following the Rangers match as we should know if we're battling for top 6 or bottom 6

    St. Mirren H
    Hamilton Academical A
    Livingston H
    Aberdeen H
    St. Johnstone A
    Ross County H
    St. Mirren A
    Hamilton Academical H
    Livingston A

After Livvy we'll have played 16, I would love to see us with 24 points or better by that stage

James McFadden singing Mick's praises on Sportscene. He said he would be a dream to have as a manager. He says he was watching him during the Hibs game and he was always positive, always encouraging with the players.

"We come up here with a lot of experienced players missing today but we just got on we it and never whinged aboot it.We gave people their first starts in the Scottish Premiership and they performed like that so all credit to them."

Micky Mellon's comments fae the highlands on Sportscene 16 08 20.

The camera then pans to the players on the pitch at the end with Coll Donaldson sitting on the grass totally distraught, wonderful.

Faddy is desperate to land a coaching or manager role in Scotland,he sat behind a defeated manager at Tannadice last Tuesday and probably learned more in 95 minutes than he ever did doing his coaching badges.

He was very impressed with our manager as was Shelley Kerr the Scotland head coach, she thinks on what we have produced so far we are in with a chance of top 6 rather than the Kris Boyd prediction of a relegation battle.
