Learned to swim at the swimming baths at Cadbury’s in the late 1950s courtesy of my dad being an employee. Interesting that there was both a female and male entrance.....separated swimming times for men and women prior to the war! The Quaker influence from Cadbury brothers way back when.
Just down the road were the Stirchley baths, now sadly locked up and looking the worse for wear and tear. It’s Grade II listed and there are, I believe, plans to turn it into a community centre.
I used to swim at Harborne baths too, my school had swimming sessions as part of the curriculum. Vividly recall having to get changed in the cubicles alongside the pool (easy as I used to have my trunks on prior to going) but we were only given five minutes to dry and change. Lots of kids dripping wet rushing to not be late to catch the bus back to school! Detention if you missed the bus....lots bunked off leaving teachers panicking as to where their charges had gone! Happy days!

I learned to swim at the old Central Baths in Wolverhampton in the summer of 1962.
Rolfe Street was rebuilt in the BCM, but only the outer building. It is used internally as a museum.

I seem to remember years ago that the old Stourbridge baths had a lido on the roof. Anyone remember that?

My first swimming baths I went to was The Brierley Hill baths, the last time I went passed there I found it was turned into a police station
