The Beatles appeared at Thimblemill baths in 1962 which was the first of 2 gigs that evening. When finished at the baths they then went on to play their second gig at the Adelphi in West Brom.

BTW I hated swimming with a passion. Always produced a fake sick note to exempt myself from swimming at school. The best I could do was the doggy paddle.

Used to use Harborne baths regularly in the 60’s and daft as this sounds used to go to the dances at Smethwick baths. Bournville lido used to go to a couple of times a year along with Droitwich lido. Never did go to Rolf st swimming pool.

Only went to Rolfe Street baths a couple of times, I probably spent more time in the cut to be honest. Learnt to swim in the small pool at Thimlemill baths. Underwater doggy paddle..... or drowning with no style until I managed to get my head above water again, happy days .
