Not sure why the team from that era gets labelled even know with such negativity in the mainstream media.

In many respects they were ahead of their time and to come from a generally average background prior to Revie to being dominant was some achievement.

Few teams in the modern era with bigger squads, more money and more subs have sustained such success over a 7 to 8 year period.

They also don’t get the credit for the football they played. The idea that Leeds were thugs and everyone else were angels is ludicrous. Chelsea, Liverpool, Everton, Spurs and a Arsenal (to name but a few) could all mix it.

I still get that phrase casually thrown around at work regularly - even from younger 'fans' of other teams. I think a lot of it is just lazy 'banter' and prejudice, and lack of knowledge of the football played, but i do think the hardness of that team, added to the behaviour of some of our fans then and subsequently into the 80s, meant the club was easy to attack on that basis.

They really ought to get over it by now but i like the reclaiming of the phrase for ourselves on the game day after we got promoted.
