On news yesterday saying that Wombwell had problems corona virus issues, went shopping today, Aldi Supermarket at Wath, shoppers in the store no masks being worn, nothing said to them by Aldi staff.
Goes into Wombwell shopping centre, shoppers in the Pound store, Fulton's freezer shop, & Wilco store in the main street, shoppers in all 3 stores not wearing masks, my wife spoke to a member of staff in the pound store regarding shoppers not wearing masks, the member of staff just put both arms out, saying she could not do anything.

Maybe more and more people are switching off the news and realising that the corona stats have been massively exaggerated?

As the song goes "you don't need a weatherman to tell you which way the wind blows"

Flu is actually killing more people than Covid-19 in England ATM.

But the media wants to keep the fearmongering going so instead concentrates on the "R rate" going up.

Fearmongering has a cost, children and young adults are committing suicide because they can't see futures for themselves.

I doubt whether your flu claim is correct at this time of year.

As for your comment about the R rate, don't you think it appropriate that we are informed so that we can make informed decisions about how we act and interact?

You are right, Beijing flu killed 80,000 in the UK in 1968 and this was before globalisation, multiculturalism, and the ability to travel from one continent to another with ease.





It's all about perception. Under the media lens, stats, media saturation, it's quite easy to zoom in on a nasty virus and have the whole world in fear.

It's more likely that people are simply becoming complacent. The risk of that has always been recognised.

Since flu and pneumonia are counted together then maybe it's not absolutely certain but I would say very likely since combined they are killing 6 times as many people as Covid-19.

Full Fact thinks this is false and that pneumonia is killing more people than Covid-19 but flu isn't, so you may be correct. although it's still hard to tell if you read this as they seem to think that people die of Covid-19 but not of flu.

IBS you seem to be the king of weeding out conspiracy theories so here's one for you to investigate. How come there's a place where until recently coronavirus had never even had a mention and then all of a sudden it was being talked about as if by magic? I'm starting to think Coronation Street is not real!
