That was supposed to be "spying" but "doing" is funnier!

Since then, as the budget has increased and the transfer/loan fees increased, so has the quality of players imo.
Sorry, the quality (or "strike rate") has remained the same, just the volume has decreased ( you would suggest the value we got for the Nketiah loan, or the disaster that is/was Casilla, or the equally disastrous JKA "deal" is an indication of increased quality of players brought in, or value for money (specifically with reference to Nketiah). I think not.

"Never mind the quality, feel the width", you would suggest that that is that our philosophy?

See my response to BBs question about"dross" achieving promotion. It didnt.

But despite the trials and tribulations of the period leading up to our saviours appearance over the hill on a white horse (I'm referring to Radrizanni if you hadn't kept up), we had acquired over 80% of the 1st team squad that DID achieve promotion, and without the inspired talent spotting of our dear, but as yet not departed, DoF.

    What made the difference.

As all would agree, Marcello Bielsa made the difference and I have made it crystal clear that my misgivings as to the wisdom of his appointment were catastrophically misguided. He has been the one single factor that has produced a promotion-winning team from a group of players with (obviously) talent and potential but with no inspiration. He will always have the gratitude of Leeds supporters everywhere for that singular and magnificent achievement.

He did so with a squad of players not (largely) of his making, and certainly not of that of our DoF, but of those who came before and who have (equally largely), gone un-acknowledged for their contribution to our promotion winning squad. Look back a while and see who brought Hernandez, Ayling etc to the club, or those who spotted local talent in the ranks of the youth teams such as Phillips.

    Orta? Meh.

    Looks like Koch is signed.

Right now I'd put our transfer activity against anyone in football. Rodrigo, Koch, Meslier, Harrison (loan) and countless future players of which some will likely be ready for the prem when needed. we have some great players locked in for more than a year. really solid for a newly promoted squad.

definitely not a relegation bound squad with one of the best coaches in football.

Anyway, dross was brought in in large quantities, and disposed of in large part. Also worth noting that all those who made any kind of contribution were brought in after Bielsa arrived, so presumably a guiding hand applied to the runaway train.

Anyway, you all go on with your faith in Orta and I'll maintain my opinion, as were not going to convince the other party as to the "truth" if such a thing can be determined. We will see what we will see.
The preferred 1st team last season was: casilla/meslier, ayling, Dallas, Cooper, White, Philips, Hernandez, Klich, Costa, Bamford, Hsrrison. Nketiah came on for Bamford, and Roberts started for Hernandez a few times. So. Looking at the preferred 1st 11, we have Goalie, White, Costa, Bamford, Harrison as Orta acquisitions. That's at least 5 of the preferred starting 11. Sometimes 6 if Roberts played in place of Hernandez. Those are the facts. That's pretty good. Another fact is: we won the League. Champions.
I am surprised that noone has mentioned the one true failing of Orta. He failed to land Daniel James. What a mess that was. I think we would be even better now with him.

Orta is paid a kings ransom to get it right, and he supposedly gets it right 50% of the time. I am paid f00k all by Leeds and I get it right more often that our DoF, go figure.

Ok, so Harrison, Meslier are hardly "activity"given they were/are current squad players.

Koch and Rodrigo we haven't signed yet (thankfully), so that leaves err.....no-one, impressive!
