    Squad investment

With the cash accrued player transfers and IF were to be made available to strengthen squad … would you trust Robinson to spend wisely ? We are in desperate need a striker and his previous venture into this market has been woeful.
Given a loan player may take weeks to make an appearance due lack of fitness, Robinson running out of time to stop this abysmal run.

Classic example of preferring to go for quantity over quality.
Add up the salarys for all those forwards he brought in would have easily paid for a quality replacement and decent backup.
There's half a dozen players he's brought in that shouldn't have.

Robinson certainly shouldn't be given any more to spend unless he can move some folk on first.

Ross MacIver .. why did he sign if won’t play ? This an example of Robinson's wayward player acquisition(s).
We should only be signing player(s) who can make an immediate impact
We have players in reserves or breaking thru that we may never see !
Another example is Harry Robinson .. WHY ?
NINE forwards listed website and NONE would get a place any other SPL 1st team

MacIver was signed because we thought he had potential, he earned his chance through the reserves, scored a belter, looked ok and got his contract. With no reserve football he's obviously loaned out and we'll see how it goes. If it works great, if not no biggie. Ditto Robinson, a youth international who did well in the reserves, he's earned his go for a year to see if he can show anything.

We clearly don't have players breaking through. It happens sometimes and was predicted in advance - especially as those due to emerge, McLear and even more so McKinstry, are already away. So we take a couple of cheap punts to pad out the youths/reserves when they played pre-Covid, if they step up it's a bonus and if not we lose virtually nothing.

We have made a debacle of the first team forwards but I don't understand being critical of a couple of kids who have done everything expected of them.

ATM - I would not give him any dosh to do anything player-wise. I'd be highlighting the Board has given him funds, allowed him to purchase his choices ... so, why don't you round them up Robbo, and get them to prove their worth to us, and your confidence in them?

We don’t have the luxury of experimenting acquiring youth from other teams who are available/released for good reason.
Our excellent coaching staff bring many thru who appear to leave because the lack of opportunity to play, i.e. McLear & McKinstry.
    Q. How long did it take Robinson promote Gorrin, Scott, Hastie, Mbulu & Turnbull into 1st team squad, the majority who left after 5 months ?
I’m also ignoring his more mature ‘experiments’ that were doomed very early … Ilic, Manzinga, Hylton & Seedorf.

I’m not singling MacIver/Robinson but use as a current example to the fact we need player(s) who can come in and make immediate impact, otherwise walk away. Robinson is not a magician and he can’t polish a turd. I would NOT give him money until clears out the deadwood as we have enough for a bonfire.

Yes Robinson has a lot to answer for regarding signings but surely he isn’t solely responsible for who we sign. Our scouting system has to be answerable as well as they must be recommending players to Robinson. Last season I recommended a forward to the club who ended up the top goalscorer in his league with 28 goals and still had six games to play when covid19 struck. The club didn’t even acknowledge my recommendation in any shape or form. Player will be playing in the National League this season and will score goals

Of course we can experiment, there’s dozens of players released as not good enough who eventually make it.

The law of averages also suggest most youth squads are just jersey fillers to give the real talent a team to play in.

McClear and McKinstry both left as kids, it’s insane to say they departed because they didn’t get a chance to play.

If I was a youth player and saw the dross Robinson selected in front of me, I may decide my future was elsewhere and just common sense.
