I was in Dundee for four home games at Dens namely Alloa, Ayr United, Dunfermline and Arbroath.
Unfortunately Ayr United was my last home game as the season ended before the Dunfermline game which was due to take place on Saturday 14th March 2020.
Whilst in Dundee I had a COVID-19 test at Kings Cross Hospital which was negative. The test was the ‘real deal’ and not the watered down version which I have seen on TV news reports people getting at mobile testing sites or self testing kits.
I previously explained on this forum how my Covid-19 test was administered. There is saying that you would not wish it on your worst enemy but I can think of a few arseholes on Islay that I would be delighted to have this test.
Therefore I did not have the Covid-19 virus as I was suffering from a slight chest infection but the health professional are panicking hence the reason I had to have my Covid-19 test.
At least when I returned to Islay I had already had the full Covid-19 test whereas other people travelling to the island have probably had not undertaken the test.
There is a simple solution which Dundee players had to undertake prior to the start of previous season training. Get their temperature taken.
The staff at the Calmac office at Kennacraig and Glasgow Airport for flights to Islay could easily take the temperature of every passenger using a digital thermometer. Anyone with a temperature of over 38.5C which I previously read is the maximum permitted temperature would be refused to travel and told to get a Covid-19 test as soon as possible.
Sadly this is not happening.
I have still not received a reply from the secretary and chairman of Islay Community Council and I doubt if I will as the golf open competition is sponsored by a local distillery and they are revered like gods on Islay.
Nobody is allowed to ‘rock the boat’ as far as the distilleries on Islay are concerned.
