Thread: Some Observations

Thinking about things now, perhaps we might consider the season to have been a success if we manage to secure more points than Derby did when they set the all time low of 11. Forget getting to 40 points, raise a glass when (if) we hit the 12 mark!

I need a few glasses of something to cheer me up where football is concerned!

    Some positives!
    - I thought our best period of the game was the first 30 mins or so, we looked reasonably solid and we looked a threat going forward
    - I think Furlong played pretty well and grot in behind that full back a couple of times
    - Leicester are a very good side, they'll be a hard game for anyone. And they'll finish in the top 8 this season. Its deflating, but its not like losing at home to another side in the bottom halfo
    - The transfer window is still open. The side playing today won't be our full strength side
at the end of the window.

Some Negatives (of which there were a few, so I've scaled this down a bit)
    - We looked ineffective going forwards, a bit clueless even. No shots on target, and really carried no attacking threat 2nd half.
    - Our substitutions, offered us nothing. And to be honest aren't good enough for this level. Harper, Edwards and HRK. The first two should probably be out on loan in the championship
    - Felt their goal was coming, they dictated the game from about 30mins onwards. I don't think Bilic got the tactics wrong, it worked at the start of the game, but he could have tweaked it around half time.
    - I don't see Bartley or O'Shea as good enough. Question marks over a few others as well. In fact, the only one of the back 5 that started today who I think is Prem quality is Ajayi.
    - Sawyers, had a terrible game. Serious question marks about him already. He's not a box to box midfielder. His best position is sitting in front of the defence in a 'quarterback' type position. But he gave the ball away far too often and was probably most at fault for their first goal

    Some Hopeful thoughts
Its not like we lost to a Fulham at home. A lot depends on who we bring in, if Grant, Gallagher and Ivanovic sign then that's 3 players who will automatically come into the spine of the team. We probably need 5 more players in total to just compete and we know we haven't got the funds for that.

Finish 17th or above and Bilic would have worked wonders this season. I still think we have the best manager we could possibly have to achieve that.
Have to largely agree. In my view Harper could possibly come good but certainly should have gone out on loan. O’Shea is very inexperienced but has great potential

Sadly, Harper is not good enough and should have gone on loan too! Harper went missing on many occasions in the championship so hardly going to dazzle with a huge step up. We need Gallagher and Krov and can't believe we are still p issing around penny pinching over Krov.

Bilic could snap and say to useless Dowling - f uck you and who could blame him! Surprised we even paid for the pretty banners on show covering the seats

I can't understand why Field isn't ahead of Harper in the pecking order. He is older and more experienced, and a better player in my opinion. In fact, and I don't want to keep bashing Sawyers, but he would have been an improvement on him yesterday.

Field is a class player and far better than Harper so I totally agree with you there.

Sam lacks pace but is highly intelligent and a terrific passer.

Never given a proper chance by any manager including Pulis who I know via Sam’s dad’s best mate really rated him.

Judged against Harper and Sawyers, Sam is a feckin greyhound!

So is Tolloch v Kanu and Austin!!! Can’t understand why Sawyers still plays? It’s a good job Phillips was injured as he would be in the side too!!

Harrogate will be coming for the win on Wednesday as they have a great midfield and have pace!!!

My thoughts are the same with Sam over Harper. But Harper must do things that we don’t see in training because he keeps being picked. I thought it was clever of Bilic on Saturday to bring on both Harper and Edwards, just as a reminder to the powers above that we need new players.

Sawyers must do something in training because consistently he does sweet f uck all on match days! He’s as useless as Phillips and Zohore!
