I'm always the optimist, but at this particular moment my worry beads are jangling.

I have this image of Road Runner in my head BT, he runs off the edge of a cliff, his legs are still spinning fast and he hangs there above the drop, defying gravity. Eventually of course, gravity wins and down he goes, that's how I see us. We won't strengthen the team, we're pissing off the manager, we're off the edge of the cliff and our legs are spinning as we defy gravity. We've been defying gravity for the last couple of seasons, but like Road Runner, we can't defy gravity for ever.
