You misconstrue my having an occasional pint in Keith's Royal Hotel as support for the corruption enshrined in patronage.

In fact, in keeping with the views expressed in the various hostelries of that fine Banffshire town, I'd have been told "Awa and bide in Russia" by its conservative clentele when expressing support for trades union activity in 1973 and 1974 when it still returned Bill Baker as Tory MP (once rumoured to have visited the constituency).

The National's a bit like Viz. Without the cartoons. Or the humour.
