I'm really not sure why anyone is surprised?

We have a Govt who mostly care about 2 things;
1. Themselves and their friends
2. PR and the Polls

Everything else (including saving lives) is secondary. That is obvious, and if it isn't obvious to you then you must be extremely naive.

It could have been different. Corbyn has his faults but at least he is principled and he would have responded to this pandemic better. Rory Stewart was on record 2 weeks before the lockdown, saying we needed to be locked down. He would have saved lives had he been chosen as Tory leader and therefore the PM. Or even if BoJo hadn't filled his cabinet full of inexperienced but loyal Brexiteer 'Yes Men', it could have made a difference.

Yet, The Tories are still ahead in the polls. We kind of deserve what we have. Which is an incompetent, lying and corrupt Govt.

Its the same with Brexit. Millions of people voted to make themselves poorer, so really as voters - we deserve to be financially worse off through our own stupidity.
