Delighted with the 3 points - and a great strike from Shanks.

Disappointed that we gave them a way back into the game. Especially as before that I thought we were looking like increasing our lead.

However, there were still far too many loose passes giving away posession. We'll not compete with the likes of the sheep or Hibs unless we cut these out of our game.

Also a couple of poor decisions in front of of goal where there was a chance to kill them off.

Chalmers is getting there. Edwards was solid and won a lot in the air.

Reynolds has been pretty consistent this season - but that error was straight out of Mark Connolly's play list. Just blast it out the park FFS!

I hope Liam Smith is back soon, as I think Bolton offers more further up the park.

Nicky Clark passed up a good goal scoring opportunity.

First half defence and passing poor. Improved greatly 2nd half, apart from their goal. Still screaming out for that creative mid to link play. charmers sporle and shanks did some decent stuff. Clark unlucky not to score but needs to be involved more. Hopefully couple of new faces in next week 🤞. Our CB are slow. Gave me the fear at times today. Before their goal we were tearing them a new one, and if Reynolds had done the basics I reckon it was a 3/4 nil game.

What amazes me is how bad some of these teams are. Can't believe how worried I was at the start of the season. I really thought we would be getting well beaten by these kind of teams. Obviously we need to strengthen still but I really don't fear any teams in this league, apart from the obvious.

big win today. Needed that and sets us up nicely for the next couple of games which are definitely winnable.

Thought first half was poor, both sides were huffing and puffing with no real quality. I actually thought they had the better of the chances without really causing too much trouble. Shankland with a moment of brilliance was all that separated the teams.
Second half, we started with a much quickier tempo and started to pass the ball a lot better. the link up play was more effective and we created some good openings. the second goal comes after putting them under real pressure (which id like to see us put more teams under). Tait getting sent off was silly and thought it would maybe open up even more for us but a silly goal to concede gave them a chance again. against better teams we probably wouldn't have won tbh even though we did dominate for most of the 2nd half we cant be giving teams any hope with sloppy goals.

    Benji- solid as always.
Bolton- not as effective going forward but defensively sound enough
Edwards- won majority of headers but yet to be convinced
Reynolds- mistake aside was solid normally he would have just booted it out so dont know what happened this time, maybe a wee nudge but still needs to be doing better
Robson- Decent game dealt with the boy mccallister well.
Butcher- thought he was poor in 1st half but improved in 2nd.
Harkes- buzzed about and won plenty of 2nd balls but when in possession needs to be better.
Chalmers- best game for us. caused problems all day for Tait so much so he had to boot him. want to see more of that
Sporle- Glad hes getting a chance. gave us much needed width and caused problems (MOTM)
Clark- should have scored 1 if not 2 worked hard but needs to be doing more i think.
shankland- 1st half looked understandably rusty apart from goal but 2nd half looked sharp and his link up play was good.

Glass- good to see him come on. unlucky not to score
Pawlett- deservedly dropped imo but some nice touches when he came on

Overall cant complain. better performance and a much needed win. still areas we need to improve on and can still do with a few additions to the squad but considering the last few weeks of torture its a much needed boost.

In my view we could actually be worse with a physical presence up front. Lumping the ball up like St Mirren/playing too direct compared with trying to work through the lines like we did so well (at times) today. Agree we need more numbers in the attacking positions but think we have a good two already to build round and should be focusing on developing the good parts of our game today
Don't think it is harsh at all. He is a great player, and trust me , I have watched him numerous times and nothing he does surprises me. It might be down to team tactics, but in some games it can seem like he isn't on the park.

Unless we sign Duncan Ferguson again , there is really no need to just lump it up the park anyway.

Considering we had numerous players out and a few playing in their not preferred positions I thought they played quite well.

Great to see that losing a couple doesn't upset the balance too much.

    That I definitely agree with!
Hopefully there is even more to come from all of the players. Certainly seemed to thrive on confidence early in the second half

Good performance. Thought we had a better shape than last few weeks, with Butcher getting about the pitch more. Still struggled a bit first half, thought we weren’t getting the ball wide quickly or often enough, but much slicker second half, other than the wee jittery spell acter the red card.
Lets hope we can build on that for next week.
