The players are under contract and are being paid. Selling a stream at £10 with 1000 views is surely better than not playing games at all whilst still paying the players?

It's hard to blame the National League for its incompetence when the government is so staggeringly inept, but you'd have hoped it might have foreseen that this might happen and had a Plan B in place - after all, from what I hear, the NHS has been preparing for a second wave for the past few months.

The worst decision would be to postpone the start of the season, because things are going to get worse before they get better once the winter months kick in. We need to stream games and let fans pay that way, like some of us did with iFollow back in the days of league football (sighs).

Particularly depressing news when you see German fans being allowed back into grounds and wonder what might have been if we'd a government that had a clue what it was doing.

You can blame them for not having a streaming service set up ready? They've only had 6 months...

My sister and I would do the same if it will help the clubs finances.

Completely agree, some income better than no income. I would also add, that some clubs may not be any worse off e.g. if you’re the home team and hosting Notts, Notts for arguments sake take an average away following of 400 at £20 a ticket, you’d only need 800 to pay £10 to watch via stream to generate the same revenue. Not unrealistic.

The above aside, doing nothing and pausing the start of the season is surely far worse for clubs?

I agree with you, just raising the point that some of us won't pay for it, because we won't watch. Whether licensing would allow watching from outside UK is another issue.

I wouldn't be at all surprised. But as with tonight there are ways round it. And that just shows up the ludicrous nature of licencing rules in the internet age. We can't watch Sky here legally but thousands do and Sky don't care if you don't tell them. But how many Frenchmen really want to watch British Sky ? It's a farce.

If the government persist with this ridiculous scheme, then many footie fans may find something else to occupy their weekends, and just not bother returning. So in many ways, they are shooting themselves in the foot. No revenue = NO VAT
