Posters have mentioned many of the important variables such as time, age etc. I also think atmosphere, booze, drugs, lighting, company and other things colour the experience. Never saw the Beatles, turned down a chance to see the Stones, preferred The Who on record to live and would only say there are too acts I regret never seeing: Simon & Garfunkel and The Mamas & The Papas.
One group I saw who were just as dodgy live as they were on recorded material were The Adverts. The gig was made even worse by some questionable characters working at Lancaster University

Gaye Advert was a bit of a punk pin-up.

I may have mentioned this before but The Stones at Knebworth was a day and night to remember. Apparently Jagger was in a right tacking and they had to wait until he was fit enough to perform, so The Stones came on about 2 or more hours late. The promoters tried all sorts to keep the crowd entertained but the geezer who had a w3ank on stage and then jumped off and broke both his ankles was probably the best ha ha

I went to watch Guns n' Roses at Slane Castle, Dublin 3 or 4 years ago. To be fair they put on a great show but Axl's vocals aren't the greatest. It's great to watch Slash on guitar though.

I don't think I'd rush back to a gig at Slane Castle again. It's impressive to see 80 odd thousand people from the bottom of the slope but it's a nightmare getting to and from the venue from Dublin centre. It's about an hour and a half on the bus and then about a 1 hour walk from the drop off to the gig. It's not so bad on the way their cos you've got a gig to look forward to. When it's finished at 11pm and you've got another 3 hours walk/wait/bus journey it's not as fun!!!!

I have massive admiration for this guy, especially during lockdown. He fronted a great band still widely followed.

Here he is on his previous lockdown singing live from home. After all these years he's still got the vocal range. Compare his home version to his studio version.

I had a copy of Crossing The Red Sea produced on red vinyl. Only thing I remember about them. And, no, I didn't buy it!
