I don’t necessarily think a 6 year repayment deal is bad news for Huddersfield.
It firms up fixed income for that period and fixed income gives the business more security and stability. The problem with one big payment is that it is easy to spend it and then you had better get it right because that is it. Clubs and fans know you have the money so their expectations go up as well that you can afford to spend it.
As long as you have no immediate requirement for the £15 million and who are they going to sign at this late, then it could be a very good deal, providing of course we don’t go bust in the meantime.
It is all part of clubs having to change and live within something like their income and in return give up on chasing the dream of unrealistic expectations of being a brand club in the PL.

This is the problem across the leagues isn't it though? The reason so many clubs are teetering on insolvency is because they are badly run businesses paying wages they cannot afford and too many have 'professional' status when they should be part time at the lower end.
Even if they get a PL bale out they'll carry on as normal and end up back in the same place eventually which is why I'm not in favour of The PL bailing clubs out. In every other industry competitors don't bale each other out.
Covid has simply bought forward what was always going to happen. Throwing money to bale out a failing business model isn't the answer.
I think The PL has ruined football with the supporters given less significance by the clubs than the support bases in Asia etc and the erosion of competition but I do accept that the top 4 or so clubs do account for the massive sums paid by broadcasters.
Football needs a massive recalibration outside of the top 4 or 5 clubs with a much needed return to reality. I'm expecting to see a few clubs in The Championship go bust so it's not just the lower leagues. The sooner there's a breakaway league and a restructuring all the way through the better.

I thought that it was only businesses in trouble who qualified to get a Grant!
