May as well tax folk on the size of their nostrils cause they are breathing more air.

Nothing wrong with the community charge except no 100% rebate.

I thought socialists all loved the community.
It was suppose to replace the old rates system and was unfair, hence it getting abolished after a few years. The council tax is fairer imo and also localised.

Couple across the road earn 150,000 between them but pay less tax than the couple next door to me who earn less than 60k...

Their crime, saving up and working hard to get a slightly bigger house for their kids...

Whatever happened to the SNPs promise to abolish the “unfair council tax” as they put it.

17 years on from Sturgeon wanting to scrap it, yup it’s still here.

Because you are earning a wage?

Yes a taxable wage, the poll tax was apparently to replace the rates system which was per household not per head.

I agree the bands can be unfair, but it's still an improvement on the poll tax imo.

She isn't primarily asking for more money for her government, she's asking for furlough to be extended to protect people's jobs. Like I said, your ignorance levels are horrific.

In England people aged 65 and over only get free bus travel in their local area. There are only free prescriptions for people aged 60 and over and everyone has to pay for their eye test.
It was recently reported that people in Scotland receive £1,462 per head more than people living in England.
At lot of people living in England especially those living in London and the South East would be delighted to see Scotland leave the U.K. as they would no longer have to subsidise the moaning, whingeing SNP MPs and their pro independence supporters.
An independent Scotland will be in a sorry state financially as al the wealth drains out of Edinburgh and moves down south to England. The management of the RBS have already set the ball rolling by changing the name of their company to Nat West Bank. The former RBS head office at Gogarburn will likely close down leaving a rapidly shrinking RBS branch network throughout Scotland.
In the early 1970’s there were 14 RBS branches in Dundee. Now in 2020 there just 2 RBS branches in Dundee.
    horrific.

it is the wealthiest part of the U.K. by far.
England itself has a deficit so it's factually incorrect to say London/SE susidises the whole of the UK. You really are ignorant, aren't you.

Rather have a tax system where everything is taxed on what you buy, like in Florida fir example...

Plus everyone that is here on holiday contributes as well....

    Council tax grossly unfair

Independence will be settled one way or another in the next couple of years, political soundbites don't overrule written agreements. Once polling hits 60%, it's a fait accompli.
