Think it comes down to how much we want to pay, and the new manager assumes that he can bring in as many players as he wants. That is until McPake got the job. no big budget for players, bring on the youth and try to find a blend of youth and experience.
That's maybe the bit when you have been chosen Bcram or am I picking you up wrong.

You identify 3 or 4 people, what does a good interview look like?......I'm not so sure the interview bit counts for much.

If there's something you don't like in the background then you'd already know about it.

Surely at the mighty level it's all about given a proven manager with a decent level track record another shot or someone who has performed well in the lower reaches.

I'm just not sure what a good interview looks like.

Does the employer go on gut feeling, go with what he's comfortable with? Or go cheap.

Now im maybe no the best person to duscuss this as I've only employed one person in my puff, Jdfc for a pool match in Spain, in hindsight a terrible appt but I managed to hold my nerve, retained his services and scrape by and we won....he was sacked in the immediate aftermath though.😁
