Speeding on the M5

If it was recieved by the lease company within the 14 days it's deemed as served to the Registered keeper. They then have to reply to a notice requesting who would be driving at that particular time

Part me says it was a fair cop guv pay up and take your punishment. But I've had a look at the photos it was mid morning, no roadworks, not much traffic and a clear blue sky so why was the 'Smart Mway' reduced from 70mph to 60mph? With these stats seems as if Avon & Somerset are playing to different rules to other constabularies.

I've politely informed them of the delay. I won't push too hard else it could be 6 points and £1000.

On a separate note having spent £millions and caused lots of disruption in the making I believe Smart Mways are now under review because of an increase in accidents. I don't use them much especially at busy times. Anyone for or against?

Reminds me of one of Jasper Carrot's old jokes from when he was visiting the USA. Said a cop stopped him for speeding and asked to see his license. When he handed it over the cop studied it for a minute or so and then said,

"Gee, you must be a really good driver you've been endorsed six times!"

I've got no qualms about using them - Think about NSL Dual carriagways with no hard shoulder. All down to drivers being aware of whats going on (yes I know thats a perfect world) Still a lot of reluctance from some people. I used to travel back down the M6 J4 to the M5 and on the Smart section, when open, could hold a steady 60mph (or whatever the limit was) and still people would bunch up in lanes 1 & 2

I got done for speeding in the States 40 years ago by an aeroplane. I was on a dead straight bit of desert highway with not another car in sight between Vegas and LA. I was driving a 3 litre Plymouth. Cop reckoned l had been doing 90 but he charged me with 70 and gave me a ticket to pay at the local courthouse. I was flying out the next day but as part of my Yankee experience I went to the local courthouse and paid the $45. Building was all stripped pine and Stars and Stripes flags like something out of Perry Mason. Except I didn't get off.

I do drive at up to 80mph on Mways so can't really complain. Consider myself pretty good at keeping to limits around town. One thing I always do is leave a good distance between me and the one in front.

My brother got a speeding ticket in the USA over 30 years ago and didn’t pay it.

He’s always been wary about returning there because it used to be said that this could flag up when you try to enter the country again.

Maybe someone could shed light on this?

Take the course 923.

If you do then you don’t need to disclose it to your car insurance company and so your premium remains lower.

The points have to be declared to them for at least a couple of years after they expire off your licence.

I’ve always found 3 points seem to quickly turn into 6 in my own experience and then you start feeling under pressure when you drive.

I’ve done the course twice and found it quite good fun and the biscuits and coffee are decent as well.

I’d take the course any day of the week rather than the points.

Is that 3 points or the Course ? (Can't be both) Looking at the chart 72 in a 60 just takes you outside of the band A bracket where I think the offer of a course is
