Thread: Rip Trevor Phillips

  1. #31
Apart from being a bit nippy he also had a very low centre of gravity which meant he could turn on a sixpence making him difficult to stop. Won a fair share of free kicks. Saw him take Northampton apart at their (old) place, 4-1, I think and their fans hated him. They just couldn't handle him. Sad he's gone so young.

RIP Trevor and condolences to family and friends.

Testimony to his time at RUFC is that just about everyone who saw him play, me included, describe him as their favourite player of that era.

Whilst the death of all ex Millers is saddening this one seems to be more depressing for me.

Trev and me were similar ages, he played at a time when I really enjoyed football both playing and watching. He had the same haircut and he was a local lad playing for a local team. Playing at a time of hard games on hard pitches and knowing that when he had finished with football he would have to find “ a proper job” like the rest of us.

Would that be the Steve Roddis, brother of the Mum of one of our current management team?

Don’t know ! He had a younger brother Martin Roddis nearer your age probably went to Monkwood Juniors.
Steve Roddis got a three year apprenticeship with Sheffield United when he left school
