I think it was Sota who compared this site to meeting up with a few mates in the pub and being able to talk about football or anything else for that matter. That's a big part of why this site continues to work. (Mind you, we might actually be a load of Billy no-mates who don't get invited to the pub and have to make do wi' this!)
I'd also say, at a guess, that probably more than half on here don't actually live in Rotherham but need to feel part of a tribe and, in some ways, this is a better way of getting that feeling than being on social media. (A bit like the Cheers TV show, really - the pub where everybody knows your name...)
We are all a bit older and have a common memory of a town, and a particular Yorkshire culture, that has in many ways disappeared. MM and the people on it remind us of that and it's not a disagreeable way to spend some time.
One thing happened to me last year, while on holiday in Turkey. Every morning got up shower, brushed teeth, went for breakfast, but I had trouble with my teeth, they seemed to be clingy & sticky, after about 3 days I found out why, I had been brushing my teeth with our lasses fixadent paste, instead of toothpaste. Glad she was not suffering with piles, or it could have Anusol cream.
Back in my rugby playing days in our squad there was a “ Gazza type” lad always joking and quick to do the practical joke. We all were his victims from time to time but there was one lad called Sam who was on the receiving end more than most.
Eventually the worm turned and after one muddy game we were in the showers when Sam came in walked straight up to “Gazza” and liberally lubricated his meat and two veg with a handful of fiery jack. By itself it’s agony but coupled with hot shower water it’s Chernobyl balls.
If you can imagine the sound a camel would make if you gelded it using two house bricks you would be close to the screams Gazza made
I liked CT's comments there in the previous post. Yes this is a busy board still and it always has been, and that has got a lot to do with the likeable mods on here, as well as the regular posters.
But its been getting harder to keep a busy FM board over the years of course, because unfortunately for various reasons now, lots of fans have left and have gone elsewhere.
And hey Im still also proud of my very own teams board as well, and our regular posters.
Footymad welcomes busy boards with active mods and regular posters of course. And the fact that any of us can visit and post on another teams board etc, thats why I think this is still the BEST outlet for fans on the internet.![]()
A question for the ‘likeable mods’.......,
How do I get a response from Footymad. Tried a couple of times, using the contact button but no response.
