Today was Ardley's 72nd league match in charge, equaling the number of league games Nolan had.
Ardley is now the joint 16th longest serving Notts league manager of all time (not counting the committee arragement). He's three games behind Mick Walker. Two more will double the amount Martin Allen had in charge.

covid has given me the opportunity to watch more matches this year.. i havent posted in a while as this place is fairly toxic most of the time...

we have shown at times in the earlier games that we could play some good football but its clear we cannot sustain it for 90 minutes.. there has been less of this as each games has gone on....and thw weather means its more attitude than aptitude required now...

we have kept the ball well for a while in games then do something stupid and try and force it instead of continuing to probe.. why not get the ball wide and put it in the box at least..

this post seems very negative but i dont think we are far off some really good performances if we go more direct..

we let too many crosses into our box without any pressure on the crossers, we dont win enough second balls in midfield either coming out of our backs or from the opposition backs.

We lack width, full backs rarely get beyond the wide players and we rarely put a decent ball into the box or even try put balls in the box.

From what ive seen, we have no traditional wingers, enzio and roberts nearly always come inside, and defensively dont do enough... that should allow room for full backs out wide but never does as they rarely go beyond

we have played some poor teams but they all create more than us, basically from just putting balls into the box when they have a chance, even from long throws.. we are at a level where the more balls into the box the more poor clearances and chances that will be created...there hasnt been many good team goals scored against us that i can remember.

Brindley passing was awful today, DKE height is an issue (not just today) could he play left wing? Wotton needs to get better balls into feet, but he needs to hold it up better too.

Rueben and Roberts will win you a lot of frees so loads of opportunites from set pieces to get the ball in... Why do two players stand over a free, it seems a waste of a player just standing beside the free? does it really matter for a defender if they dont know if it is an out or inswinger...

we havent addressed the issue of an energetic box to box central midfielder unfortunately, which would i think go a long way to improving our performances..

finally, its been a long rant, there have been some tidy players we played against this year, cropper today, jack senior halifax, barratt maidenhead... that would probably be an improvement on what we have..

I thought once again a very honest post match interview from the gaffer stating we didn't play well. No need to pick it apart and analyse every line he said purely because we didn't drop points.

    Phew

Enzio now credited with the first goal on the BBC website:

    SAT 21 NOV 2020NATIONAL LEAGUE
    Chesterfield 2 - 3 Notts County
    Smith (33'minutes), Denton (78'minutes)
    FT
    HT 1-1
    Boldewijn (22'minutes), Wootton (90'minutes), Rodrigues (90'minutes)

Was it clear who scored on the live stream, or is the BBC showing it's left wing bias?

It seemed like Enzio to me because the players congratulated him.

I bought the stream but then the hazy yellow thing appeared in the sky and I thought I'd do thon welding job on the van. And then the old sky water came by the bucket load so I watched the game. I needed the water cause my wife frowns on unproductive Saturdays. Glad I watched in the end. Ruben Rodriguez looks the ticket. He runs weird. I reckon that's always a good sign. He runs like the Derry pele. Like an orange man without a cause!

... well, usual mob of spineless moaners still doing their apprenticeship as Notts fans (not supporters). Watching the game it is evident that too many players are simply off form. You don't need to over-analyse to see that. As a team it is also evident that they are sticking together contrary to what some of the moaners would like to see. It's that team spirit that plucks a result out of nothing. It's as if some of you have never watched the game of football. Get over yourselves spineless ones ...

I remember many years ago when we were 3-1 down in an away game and a couple of posters were still urging positivity. One poster* said that if we got anything from the game he would walk to our game at Mansfield in his underwear. We did what we did today and scored two very late goals, and to his credit he carried out his pledge. Today poses as many questions as answers because from most reports it was a fortunate win, and Ardley and his tactics are still questionable. But just when we were resigned to defeat we managed to sneak a win against all the odds. Forest lost as well late on so the inquest can wait, tonight I can only celebrate big time.

    * Does anyone else remember this? I can't remember the game or the poster's username, but I'm pretty sure his actual first name was Drewe.
I remember this - wasn't this in the old Notts County online chatroom? Google confirms the game was away at Bournemouth in League One in 2010. I remember being in the chatroom when it happened - in fact I think I had involvement in the promise being made! I think I said "I'll eat my thumb if Notts get anything from this game" and then Drew made his pledge in response. Then Notts made it 3-2and I recall Kevin Smith scoring a last gasp equaliser, which has to be the best thing he did as I can't remember much else. Cue near naked Drew on what I think was a charity walk to Mansfield. Credit to him for doing it - I still have my thumb!
