    A discussion about RACE

In light of the BBS getting all hot and bothered about the comments on this message board about the Millwall booing to bending the knee.
I was wondering what posters on here thought about the words that are acceptable and unacceptable when discussing race?
For example - is it acceptable for black people to call other black people ni***ger - but other races can’t ?
And is it acceptable for Pakistani people to use the word Brit or Yank ........ but pa*i is unacceptable?
Don’t get me wrong - I don’t use those words.
But should there be a levelling up ?
Or are things ok as they are?
If people are not dealt with in the same manner then is this likely to generate resentment?

When I was at Uni (30 years ago) in lectures the word negroid and negro was regularly used.
If we are talking race - Caucasian - Oriental ......... is Negroid or Negro now unacceptable ?

Didn't you end up as a shop steward and union rep down pit. You've lead a diverse life yourself. If I've heard right?

I did the NUM/British Coal course at University of Sheffield which got me interested in university.
Before then I presumed you had to be highly intelligent to get into university.
Although saying that mi brother did do physics at the Imperial - and I wouldn’t describe him as mega bright :-)
Anyway back to the words used when describing race - it will be interesting to hear if people have an opinion on it.

Whether this is part of the Critical Race Theorists strategy I don't know for sure , it's possible .

For posters not familiar with the Critical Race Theory it basically places the blame for all racism at the feet of white people which is just not true and has a strategy to make all white people feel guilty for it .

People often use certain terminology wrongly and sometimes inappropriately but I wouldn't altogether condemn them as racists which seems to be where we are at the moment .

My old Dad bless him told me years ago, when somebody raises it NEVER engage in a discussion about Race, Religion or Politics....If you do it will ALWAYS end up in an argument because nobody ever agrees with anybody on these subjects.
I didn't listen once when I was younger and ended up in a politics debate with friends, we have hardly spoken since!!! Lesson learned and have avoided the subjects since.
