It has taken a significant number of the larger clubs who have dropped out of the EFL several years to regain their spot in the EFL. Most of the bigger ones do eventually with a few notable exceptions ( Wrexham and Stockport but I bet both are challenging either this season or next others such as York, Torquay, Yeovil will inevitably challenge in the coming seasons as well) . However expectation waits for no man. Neal must achieve promotion this season or he will be toast he has pretty much said that himself. All the teams in this division face the same issues with Covid to a greater or lesser extent ( Stockport seem to have bounced back instantly and remain my prediction to win the division). Notts have chanced on 3 foreign signings one of which left and has been replaced by someone seemingly not good enough to make the bench and the other two have shown glimpses of what they can do but the jury is still out. It is going to be a massive ask to get automatic already with the gap and our seemingly indifferent form. Not impossible but extremely unlikely. Injuries are not helping. I think the most alarming thing about this season is that we have been rolled twice at home by opposition we would expect to beat ( although Boreham Wood I think looked a solid unit) and lost to 2 awful sides away and played awful as well. The manner of the defeats is concerning. last season you could forgive them. You can't this year. We will I think comfortably make the play offs this year and anything else is unlikely. I pray that if that is what Neal achieves then the owners say thankyou for your efforts and see you later. His legacy I think will be one of the steady guy who steadied the ship and history will show him in a more positive light than a negative one.
It must be very disruptive and concerning for any football squad.
75% of the current squad would be about 15 players which sounds like a lot. I would imagine we never received the full story when we had to withdraw from the FA Cup tie at Kings Lynn. I don't know how regularly they've been testing either but based on the cost it is very likely it isn't weekly and that other means of detection such as temperature checks and symptom diagnosis are being used. It is likely therefore that there could be a flurry of infections that aren't picked up by testing due to timing of the tests but players show symptoms and necessary precautions are taken.

Agreed. Other things we need but appear to lack: commitment, belief, desire and motivation. We shouldn't have to go behind, as we did on Tuesday, before looking energised enough to put the opposition under sustained pressure. Another phrase we often hear is "wanting it more". We're supposed to have high expectations of promotion, whereas most of the teams we play in this league realistically don't. Rarely therefore should we come up against teams that look as though they "want it more", but it seems to happen all too often.
This is why I get a bit frustrated with the way people have a go at Doyle and JOB. With the exception of maybe DKE and Rawlinson there aren't many others in the squad show the fight and spirit these guys do. I don't care what anyone says about JOB he would start every game for me, yes his final pass and decision making can sometimes let him down but he is 100% fcommitted in everything he does, get's stuck in and always looks for the forward pass, never back or sideways.
