Thread: Bristol City Post Match Thoughts

  1. #31
Well I usually hold back from commenting until a few hours but I need to get a few things of my chest
First and foremost, its okay and healthy to criticise when its justified.

I just don’t get the current black and white, its all column A or column B way of thinking
I don’t get the bile and anger expressed on social media , with many, many people calling for the heads of the management team because we have a bad performance.

The Coventry game was the ONLY time this season the performance was unacceptable. A game we needed to win, or at least get a point from, or at the very least have a bloody good reason why we didn’t. But we were second best and it hurt.
But it was the only time. Every other time we have gone out and battled against teams with the financial resources to find the best, matured talent across the globe and given the a game - and taken points from most.
Today we were out outstanding, but for me it shows how important confidence is to this team. When we have it we get our tails up. We play, we press , we dominate.

Which leads me on to our main point. Given that we cant go to the games , I think those of us with a disposition based in reality need to get behind the lads. The keyboard warriors that expect instant t success, and insult and undermine everything weve achieved in the last few years, may be entitled to their opinion but it needs to be countered with a bit of reality
Unlike most teams these days, this team represents Rotherham. Not China or Portugal, or the US or the Emirates, but Rotherham. Its funded by local enterprise , not just the owner but the sponsors and the supporters. And we take the rest of them on. We work harder, think harder and try harder

And today we battered a team from the top six of the fourth biggest league in the world.

Get In. We should all be proud. And perhaps the people who should learn the most from it aren’t just the management teams but the so called supported who cannot wait to vent their spleen and undermine everything we have achieved in the last few years.

Im happy – and a bit pissed. Just as you should be on a Saturday night!

What a day for the Millers! I'd forgotten what 3 points felt like. PLUS a clean sheet. And to make it even better none of those around us got a decent result although I would probably have liked Wycombe to nick a point off Coventry. Maybe us and Coventry are starting to find our feet in this division. Mustn't get carried away but somehow I feel a whole lot better this evening. Always knew that Warne was the man.

Yes, before a ball was kicked I expected the same tactics used with the 352 system as before, Why? Because that is how he has played 352 whenever we used it. The fact is that it is a passing formation and today we did that so I cannot see any reason why he did not use those tactics in the previus games other than he did not know how to use the 352 formation properly. (hence the penny has finaly fallen)

Maybe we will see the lads continue in the same vein or maybe not? Only Warny can make that choice so lets wait and see before we start the praises of a one off result ok.

Absolutely loved it today (as KK would say). The players gave 100% effort as always and matched it with skill. Olusunde was my MoTM but a few put in MoTM performances. Always chuffed when Smithy scores - heroic effort from him. Probably Crooks' best of the season and a great goal. Lindsay ratting away in the middle gave em nowt and Barlaser found his magic touch again. A 2-0 hammering? you bet!
Dead chuffed for all the players and the management team as well.
Same again on wednesday would be brilliant

And I did say this referee books on average of three a game topsy..
Two of ours and one of theirs ( Rowe )

Good all-round performance, fully deserved three points.
Good to see the short, sharp accurate passing and players making themselves available for a pass.
We're quite capable on our day.
Difficult to pick a man of the match however I've gone for Matt Olosunde..class player..

Edit ...should give them confidence for game on Wednesday v Blackburn.

    There you go

    Positive vibes

Go at the opposition from the first whistle brings rewards

Note how the opposition plays but don’t get hung up about it

I've said that time and again especially when scoring a goal at home ....just queue up the title and anyone can join in.

Yep - used to love this at DVS. I'll always remember the two lasses standing up, giving it large, arms aloft when this was played. Memories of the Charade or Co-op no doubt.
