We had to step over rough sleepers in the doorway of our hotel. The SNP had stallholders open for conversation and campaigning, we had a couple of very "interesting" conversations with them for sure.

If 2020 Glasgow truly represents Nicola's idea of "Scottish Socialism" you lot are really up sh1ts creek without a paddle OC.
That isn’t how I see the city centre, but I suppose it depends where you were and what time. There are parts in the East that look after homeless and in the west where there was a soup kitchen for them. Intrigued by the stall holders, never seen them, where were they?

If you were walking up Queen Street towards the Royal Concert Hall, they were pitched at the bottom of the steps - two stalls - Scottish flags flying and leafleting and touting for donations and membership.

Their passion was admirable, but I had real trouble understanding their thick Glaswegian accents.

When we walked past the Central Station and crossed the River Clyde, I was shocked at the decline. It looked to me like all of Nicola's cash allocation stays in Edinburgh, but I really don't know Scottish domestic politics so I can't comment.

The difference between Edinburgh and Glasgow was startling to me, chalk and cheese and all that.

Think that would be Buchanan St BT . I guess we rarely go there now as shops have lost their appeal, until the Saturday evening Concert slot. It tends to attract beggars as it’s the main shopping st. Some are con merchants. Once you go past Central Station to the west it’s not too good and south to and over the river as both are in a regeneration zone much being built on now for Barclays Bank HQ. 50% of Glasgow post codes are deprived however and drug misuse is rife.
Nicolas constituency Glasgow south side formerly Govan is one of them.

I'm not point scoring OC, but you seem to be confirming my post 70#.

Like most big cities Glasgow has its problems, deprivation being one, it also has a lot of good points and we enjoy living here - apart from Nicola. Lol. Edinburgh has its problems too but they are well hidden.

Just an observation OC, but Glasgow seems to me to being left behind. It reminds me of Oldham, but on a larger scale. And it does not seem to be saddled with an "immigration" problem.

Some of the Victorian era buildings are really stunning.

Both Glasgow and Edinburgh are fine cities.

I think Edinburgh is my favorite city of all.

Bath, Salisbury, Winchester, Edinburgh, York, Canterbury, Chester, the list is endless, but none can compare to London - surely?
