The same reason we got put into Lockdown last month I would imagine 59. The government and the mad scientists have dug themselves into their Lockdown hole and now can't/daren't stop digging. The virus peaked last April before any government measures had time to take effect, although they continue to lie about that.

Infections and deaths were starting to fall in October, so we got the 4000 deaths a day lie, (which you fell for hook, line and sinker mon ami), leaked to the press and Boris announces another Lockdown. And why not, it gives them a shot at claiming that Lockdown was a success again, they really would have been left with egg on their faces with the virus having peaked and them having done nothing. They weren't going to allow that to happen.

I wonder if the above is why the government lie about those testing positive, calling them 'cases', when they know full well they are not. What I do not understand is why ordinary members of the public go along with the lie, are even complicit in it by supporting them in their lie. I can't answer that 59, perhaps you can ?
