The best city for me would be Southampton, but only because it would be that we were heading to one of the cities four cruise terminals for the start of a well deserved holiday.

    Some progress? Express says

    https://www.express.co.uk/news/polit...ation_with_ads

Sources close to the talks said both sides had made “progress” on the level playing field issue - one of the key differences between the sides - after the EU dropped its “ratchet clause” demand for Britain to be permanently tied to the bloc’s regulations.

The two teams are now exploring how the UK can be allowed a “managed divergence” from the EU’s rulebook without eurocrats having free rein to slap Britain with punitive trade tariffs at short notice.

The more I read about the EU's intransigence and bully boy tactics, the more resolute is my determination to LEAVE and serves to remind me to vote LEAVE was one of my better life decisions.

Again very astute from the EU, the EU only threw in the ratchet clause a few days ago, now they've compromised and agreed to drop it, and that's supposed to be progress, when in reality we're just back to where we were before. They're now claiming a deal is there to be done if only we will compromise on our fishing rights, again very astute, are we really going to lose a deal with our European friends over such a trivial issue as a few fish. Once more they have us exactly where they want us, they're not daft by any means these EU lads.

I wouldn't mind one or two of them joining the BFC recruitment team in January, we might get a few more deals over the line then. Apologies for dragging football into a political thread.

Brexit is turning Premier League and Championship sides’ scouting policies upside-down as the new rules make it harder to sign unearthed gems from Europe’s weaker leagues.

The changes in work permits are supposed to give more opportunities to English players, while still allowing the best-of-the-best from overseas to play in the Premier League.

But due to the way the new rules work, clubs that scout the German second division or the Danish Superliga might be better off switching their attention across the Atlantic and scouting Liga MX, Major League Soccer, and the top leagues in Argentina and Brazil instead.

The new UK work permit rules that come into effect in the January 2021 transfer window will make it harder to sign players from the European Union. Brexit means these players will need a work permit, and while players in Europe’s top leagues won’t have any problem reaching the criteria, those in weaker leagues might struggle to get a ticket to England.

I wouldn’t be surprised if this is true
SKY NEWS's political correspondent Kate McCann suggested Boris Johnson may have already struck a Brexit agreement with the European Union as she discussed the PR-like tone the Government adopted in recent days.

The plan ... to agree at the last moment a deal that can’t be scrutinised as there’s no time left.

Meanwhile French fishermen will block ports if no deal.

I had to smile at Barnier yesterday, he was saying that there hadn't been enough time for this trade deal to be sorted, they really needed longer, conveniently forgetting that we wanted to negotiate the trade deal alongside the WA, but Barnier and the EU flatly refused and insisted trade discussions were parked for two years until the WA was agreed. Of course none of the Remoan media pointed out the two wasted years to M Barnier, he was allowed to stand there with a straight face while he bemoaned this lack of time. But I had to laugh.
