[QUOTE=stripes39;39626496]I have a long standing family friend who works with Bournemouth coastguard. Apparently 500K people turned up in one day. You could not make it up[/QUOTE

And I bet many of those that ignored the advice are moaning about the second lockdown. You are right Stripes, you could not make it up.

This next six months is going to be very hard going for very many people on numerous different levels.
I like looking back at old posts from time to time.

I posted this on the last day of October, sad to say I was spot on once again on this.

Furloughing extended until the end of April and lockdowns now being forecasted until the same time.

Ok then, so why are your Albion predictions so wide of the mark (or goal)?

Apparently there is a vacancy at No.10 for a special advisor with vision but you do need to like (nut) nuts!

Surely, though, a man of your undoubtedly unique talents ought to be at No.1 in that particular exercise of clairvoyance?

And I think I predicted it would be long bleak winter Covid wise and the UK will go into a,second lockdown. I will now predict it will go into a third lockdown, and further, if it is not a hard well disciplined lockdown there will be a fourth lockdown.

I also predicted West Brom would struggle this season and that I would retire at 63, we are struggling and I will likely retire next year.

Blast it, me crystal ball just fell off the ruddy table and shattered on the floor sending glass into my leg which has severed an artery and there is blood everywhere. Hell I did not see that comiiiiiiiii uh.

We (me and “she who must be obeyed”) are both the wrong side of 70. Inevitably therefore, we are maybe more cautious and endeavour to stay safe !
We moved house 6+ years ago into a more rural setting. So I guess we are lucky in that we are more remote than our previous home.
However, notwithstanding the care we take, it seems to us that so many people are not taking the ‘restrictions’ seriously. Even passing couples on a walk up the lane, the majority now do not pass in single file as we do, to ensure more than adequate social distancing.
My last visit to local Coop (essential forgotten item) evidenced a number of ‘maskless’ customers and certainly lots of non social distancing. We rely on an online delivery, and in light of my Coop experience, now avoid visiting a shop.
Accordingly Christmas will undoubtedly trigger a 3rd lockdown in my opinion.

You are right Prando! Infections in January will go through the roof as so many stupid people in this country - and selfish! We are in tier 2 so neighbouring areas in tier 3 pile in to the town to pack out the restaurants and pubs. The pubs don't care as many youngsters are ordering chips as their substantial meal!

I feel for all those companies who are struggling because of the pandemic and those who are doing better - well most of them are providing shocking service! I must have sent 4 emails to one company for a non delivery of a watch but no response - shocking!

Come January we will pay for this big time with record infections and deaths due to stupidity!

And this has been my point from the very beginning. If, when the country went into lockdown it had been done properly for a sustained period, and I mean a good period, long enough to reduce the virus to a low level before coming out of lockdown it would likely have not be in the mess it is in now.

Coming out of lockdown should have been a gradual and careful reintroduction of normal life, but with no travel outside of the country without a two week isolation period upon return. Unfortunately the Government bowed to pressure from business, particularly the airline, tourist and hospitality industries and hey presto here you go again and again.

Last week there were 6 Covid deaths in a neighbouring island to us, an island who followed the UK method of dealing with the virus, which put business before public welfare. They now have just under a thousand cases. Here we have four cases and thankfully no deaths.

We did have a strict eight week lockdown, and I mean strict, and then, with an exceptional and brilliant medical and Goverment led team we have been up and running since June, with no restrictions at all.

There is still sanitiser everywhere and foolishly, the majority of people are not using them when shopping etc. It would only take one idiot to not isolate as they should and we could be in the brown stuff again.

Our hearts go out to those across the water, we have relatives in the UK and neighbouring islands, so it is a worry. We are still shocked when we watch the news and see the mess the UK and many other places around the world are in.

Keep yourselves safe and in doing that you might also be helping those fools who ignore everything they are advised to do and what any reasoned person does do.
