I think with this new fast spreading Covid there has to be a change of mentality, especially amongst the young.

I’m all for Civil Liberty and don’t like a “Nanny State” mentality but with this having the ability to spread in the way it can I think vaccination needs to be compulsory.

Special medical cases may need exemption though and I accept that.

It should be easy enough to legislate that kids under the age of 18 are done as a matter of law.

I also think that just as for example you need a clean criminal record or a clean driving licence to get a job that ANY employer should have the right to not employ anyone who hasn’t got a health pass or an official exemption.

It could be that I’m one of the unlucky ones and a vaccine adversely affects me but that’s a chance I’m willing to take.

I’d rather do something for the collective good rather than sit on the high horse and refuse.

I honestly don’t think it’s asking too much of people to have a jab every 12 months.

After seeing some headlines this evening, I am totally disgusted by Eurostar. How can they get away with transporting people from a Tier 4 area to either France or Belgium. Surely this flys in the face of the new ruling that travel is not allowed from Tier 4. Surely all Inter City trains from London should be cancelled.

I see January being a complete shutdown for those in tier 3 moving to tier 4 with stricter restrictions. All non essential shops closed and most businesses shuttered unless your job is absolutely essential until at least March. I still feel masks will eventually be extended to offices and streets. Lockdowns to continue on and off all year until a new/tweaked vaccine is developed for the latest mutant strain.

There appeared hope on the horizon when vaccines were announced but it now appears to me to be just a chimera as chaos and fear continue to be ramped up.

There are also rumours of the furlough scheme morphing into some kind of universal payment scheme. I personally feel all this is now beginning to look like a tyranny as we stand back and watch all these businesses that people have built up are being smashed up before our very eyes as we all look on powerlessly.

They say freedom dies in democracy when frightened people freely give it up, thinking it is in their best interests.

Spot on BMG. I cannot believe how many young and middle aged people are fleeing the highest risk area in the country to stay with parents and relatives in lower Tier zones. Is Christmas Day really that important that its worth risking elderly relatives?

I've a few country pubs very close to where I live. The amount of taxis turning up with outsiders from Tier 3 zones intent on going to the pub regardless is staggering. I'm in a quiet village especially at night yet we've seen an increase in noise late at night as they all wait, pi**ed up for taxis to take them back to Tier 3. Pubs are meant to stop serving at 10.00PM yet 11.30 people were still waiting for taxis.

With this amount of selfish idiots in society who will not follow a few simple rules you wonder where its all heading.

A good friend of mine has a mate who was a very fit 64 year old. Did endurance sports several times a week. Within 10 days of getting Covid he died so it just brings it home how these people's selfish attitudes is putting so many at risk.

Publicans have to take some responsibility, after all they check ID’s for underage drinkers, if they don’t know where someone lives they should ask for their driving licence which shows the home address! Not difficult really.

The Tory Propaganda Machine is still working its magic on everyone on here I see...

Anyone ever heard of divide and conquer? Let people blame other people for the Govts mistakes...its working well so why change it?

    Lets all forget about;
    The late lockdown
    Face mask fiasco
Delayed Track and Trace system that cost 12 BILLION
Failed PPE equipment, given to their friends
Cummings breaking lockdown rules but being defended
Completely muddled public messaging, which even Bojo didn't understand

But instead lets blame people who were acting within the regulations, who had been promised there would be no lockdown for Christmas who had to change plans at late notice to be with their families. By the way, Bojo has known about this covid variant for weeks, its all over the SAGE minutes.

Remember the golden rule, Bojo doesn't care about anything or anyone apart from himself and the polls.

We are in the unfortunate position of having the worst prime minister, of the worst government at the worst time in charge of the country. And we are paying the price for it.

Unfortunately this polarisation of opinions is killing open debate. It's a case of you're either with us or against us.

This thread was merely highlighting the fact that there are a lot of very selfish people in society who are spreading the virus through their own actions and not giving a damn about others.

Why you have to turn it in to a political debate I don't know as no one as far as I can see on this thread has defended the government or it's handling of the crisis. Many have stated on numerous threads that this government has been found wanting and has been very poor on so many levels which I happen to agree with.

I'm not sure what your point is as I agree with much of what you say, or is your point that its 100% the government and all those selfish idiots leaving London on trains etc to lower tiered parts of the country are not a part of the problem?

This thread started with a link to a Tory propaganda rag.

We all have our own opinions, my opinion is this is political. And you ask me the point I'm making, my point is I'm now seeing many people blaming the public on the back of this, whereas the responsibility in my eyes lies with the Government and the PM.

The Government were 100% to blame for people getting on the trains on Saturday night to get out of London. They knew there would be a deluge of people turning up at the train station in an effort to get home in the small window they allowed them to have to comply with the regulations. So yes, I do blame them for the crowded stations. And in all likelihood they did this intentionally to divide opinion and help remove blame from themselves.

As I mentioned in my earlier post, they care more about public opinion / polling than they do about saving lives.
