Actually the biggest let down was when I found myself lying flat on my back and looking up at Esmerelda on the top of the church.
All I asked her was to toss me off!

I was born on the tree-estate in Bramley so, notwithstanding IBS's overstrict definition, consider myself from Rotherham. Father's side in Rotherham (Rawmarsh, Kimberworth, East Dene, Wickersley) since the 1870s. Mother was German and came to England in 1947 as a war-bride.

Most of you know I've moved around quite a bit so no need for a list places - but it's 32 house moves (13 of them internationally) for the record.

Despite all that, I would seriously consider living in or around Rotherham at least for part of the year (the football season!) if circumstances changed. I'm very proud of where I come from.

Correct, Bramley. Mainly built in the late forties/early fifties. I lived on Pear Tree Avenue. I don't think the term, "tree estate" is used that much though I've seen it a fair amount on those Facebook memory/chat groups covering Bramley and Wickersley and have adopted it as a useful catch-all for the area.
