That was the quote at time. Nothing about being Premiership ready. He’s 19 and 4 months into a 24 month contract and spent a month of that injured. Loaning him out to get games post Covid was the right decision as it was for Freeman and Glass (although he unfortunately got a serious injury). Let’s actually allow the club work with these guys for a decent spell before we judge/write them off.
The managers words at the time, in a video interview sitting in his wee office at St. Andrews on DUTV, were 'Premiership ready'.

Well seems the manager had a change of opinion and decided that he was not ready for the first team the way he was going to have to set them up and thought that a loan spell would help him.

We also landed a Cameroonian capped player from La Liga a few weeks later which rightly pushed him down pecking order so going out and playing games much more beneficial for his development in the short term.

Yeah mate that makes sense.Hopefully a season playing in lower division every week will help his development.Appere went down to juniors then came back and into first team.

Hoti is 9 months younger than Chalmers who wasn’t getting a game at Arbroath in March and did well for us this season before injury. Bit of patience required with these guys.

Let's hope so! Two professional games of football in his life before he came here, he's gonna have to get the skates on. Still, he must be a looooooong way off what we were told he was when we signed him. At a time when we are struggling to make any signings at all, I'd have preferred we utilised any cash on someone who could play for the first team, not a nobody signed by our Sporting Director who we then farm out to Forfar. We have plenty of young boys already out on loan. We're crying out for new signings for the first team.

Yeah I agree one for the future good they are looking to the future as well as the present only way we will get better.Would not want them to just ignore players they think will do a job for club in future hope they keep working on youth with guys we are bringing through and other we bring in if we think they are good enough.

Let’s not get facts get in the way though!
Thats wrong, I know one of the coaching staff at forfar, he was taken off because of lack of effort, In fact they wanted to take him off earlier but were afraid of falling out with united. he missed games after that but wasnt injured he was self isolating. It was a strange signing as we have Glass and Mochrie, who is 3 years younger and out performing him at Montrose, helping them to 2nd in the league.

I suspect the latter.
Mellon in the courier saying he hasn't made an offer for Robert and hasn't even heard of him. His comments suggest we won't be seeing any personnel changes in the current window:
