    Literature from Scottish elite

    Popped thru my door today.

It says " Even with a vaccine, Scotland will face restrictions for the forseeable future"

But you heard this here first in March.

Every winter it's gonna be lockdown, tier system forevermore.

    Sorry.

I don't think you are right. Like everything in our society there are great crusades and much tilting at windmills. They are solved because the debate changes into something else and the problem is not solved in the terms that were used to define it. In the case of covid the recent Government pronouncements have been on the basis of crushing the virus, squeezing it out of the population etc. In other words covid is killed. This is not going to happen and the mood music will change once the vaccination programme gets underway. I don't think it is reasonable to argue that this virus is going to keep going at the same rate or even an increasing rate of infection forever. Once you remove that prognosis then a new narrative will take over. I am hoping it will be based on a well organised vaccination programme. I worry that it might not happen as quickly as we would wish. My worry is based on the fact that we do not really have a NATIONAL Health Service. We have a fragmented system of local Health Boards who all seem to be trying to do their best with very different local populations. We need to find a way to sort out the logistics. I would like to see a public presentation of how the government is going to complete the vaccination programme. Jason Leitch seems to me to be the person to get this job. I imagine he would be just as good at telling the government what they need to do as he is at telling us what to do.

See, i think you think this is still about a virus with a 99.6% survival rate......I don't.....I think it's about how we are governed.

If it's not covid it will be something else.....nothing's going back to how it was, if govt don't do it, big business will do it for them.

I take it you never got the propaganda thru you're door today.

Correct assumption. Censored by the family! No need to get me wound up first thing in the morning. I am confident that how we are governed can be changed by the electorate. Who would have ever thought that a populist candidate like Donald Trump would get elected as President of the United States? He was such an outsider that even the Republicans could not believe that he would win. I am afraid the experiment didn't work largely because of the behaviour of Donald Trump himself but I don't think that where there is a two party system there is much danger to democracy.
Europe seems to me to be heading for trouble as populist policies will rely on nationalist tensions. As we see in Scotland a nationalist agenda is very effective in driving change forward. Boris used it himself to get Brexit done. My hope is that we Scots take a breather and wait to see what actually happens in Britain now that we are out of the EU. I think we are very pragmatic and we will not dash for independence and a return to the EU and I have more faith in our political system than I have in the current bunch of politicians.

Thanks for the numbers, am I missing some subtle message that you are trying to make. Have thought about them and can't see any relationship! Well Done if they are just a random bunch of numbers!

Don't you worry about Whitty saying next December for a lockdown. He's part of the group who have got us into this state of affairs and he won't be there to be able to claim he has got us out of it. Just my opinion. What kind of evidence based U-turn would it take for him to be able to advocate another type of policy apart from lockdown to flatten the curve, protect the NHS etc. I can't think that there will be anything that will allow him to change his opinion.

If the current cases drop significantly by the middle of February he will have proved that lockdowns work when they are applied nationally. The tier system didn't work so perhaps a much more draconian personal lockdown will be applied along the lines that you fear. Personal Liberty may be attacked for the benefit of everyone rather than the current approach to attack Civil liberty as a blamket response.

Oh dear, you might be right. There's a novel thought for me to consider!

RROS predicted months ago that this would not be the end of of lock downs and that they'd do it year after year. It'll become normal.

I said right at the start the whole thing is an exercise in social control, however I don't think that justifies a prediction of the lottery numbers from me because Stevie Wonder could see that in a darkened room.

Random but you should get at least a lucky dip out of them.

I am right......and I know you will say so when it happens. It ain't about a virus anymore.

Remember Hitchens......"once Govts have spun the lies they have to continue making the lie bigger and bigger"

I think next lockdowns next winter will be to "protect the nhs"....obviously from possible patients😁...instead of the bells we cud all stand on our doorstep on the 1st of Jan bang pots and pans then come out again 1st of April....seems appropriate.

I think the government might move to a tighter control of individuals rather than try to use the broad lockdown approach.
Will invest in your numbers and give you 10% as a reward!
