Yet we have retired medics with the necessary experience saying the paperwork is so great they are put off from applying to help.

As for the NHS volunteers, I signed up, got asked to do **** all, in the end I gave up and just focussed on offering help to people in my area, which was welcomed, especially those self isolating as they were finding it difficult to get the support they needed. Also untangling the system so they could access help from officialdom.

True, I know of at least 2 ex NHS staff who have made themselves available and they haven't even been contacted, never mind sent paperwork, but who's fault is this, the local mismanagement of the NHS or the government?

Unfortunately, the NHS has been mismanaged for decades through successive governments. It's recently been reported that waiting times for operations are the longest since ........... 2008, which was after 11 years of Labour investment and not surprising because of the pandemic on this occasion. Any visit to a hospital, other than the A&E department, you will observe staff standing around talking or not appearing to be doing much.

It's not been common in my 40 years of experience with small to medium business, maybe if I had more experience of larger business, I would be less critical of the NHS, but personally, I'm drawn to the awful waste of time and inefficient practises whenever I attend.

Its easy to criticise when you don't run an organisation, but as in everything involving human beings, there will be mismanagement and there will be well run sites. However, I suspect that far more is wasted through patients who miss appointments, fail to heed advice/take prescribed medicine and generally clog up the system with non serious maladies.

What one doesn't see though is the Tory introduced health "reforms" that include internal markets and a mountain of paperwork!

On anther note I note that whilst we ahve approved the Moderna vaccine for use in the UK, because we chose not to participate in the EU vaccine procurement it won't be available here until March at the earliest.

Aye the EU approved it for use 2 days before we did. Them Wednesday, us today. I imagine in a 4 or 5 horse race, we only backed the horses finishing 1st and 2nd, but failed to get on the 3rd place finisher

Totally agree on the no shows, they should go to the back of the queue. My daughter-in-law, who works in a pharmacy next door to a clinic, has just received the Pfizer vaccine, to save it being thrown away because of no shows.

For an intelligent man, you make some pretty daft statements. So you're claiming because we're not in the EU vaccination programme, we're worse off than the EU who still haven't got the moderna vaccine whilst we're actually injecting the Oxford one? Jeez.

That's what GP meant, by only backing the first 2 past the post and not winning with the third place horse.
    How will we survive?

Eleven ‘no shows’ in Ashbourne today, and no it wasn’t snowing...inexcusable.
