Re California, my pal Marcel says he's banned from doing gigs because he can't play in front of an audience, yet he goes down to his local club where he used to play Sundays, and the place is packed with those same punters - effectively the only thing missing is his music...
I would as you clearly miss the point which is how Trump used the phrase "China Virus" which was clearly denigrating rather than a geographical term.

I think Andy was responding to me, Swale...but my reply would have been much the same as yours.

Have you been hacked, AF? I expect deflection and avoidance from some on here but not usually you...I’ve honestly never seen such effort into dragging us away from the original premise of the thread.

Only seen, a portion of it, once and I completely agree with you, GP. Unfortunately it keeps winning awards, so clearly our verdict is not ‘objectively accurate’. Probably a favourite of Brexit supporters, Trump defenders and anti vaxxers. Oops!

Now we are talking about taste, preference and its generally subjective, one mans meat is another mans poison! I found the original premise mildly amusing, but having only seen the odd programme in recent years get the impression its flogging the same horse which died a long time ago.

But obviously many people do find it amusing, same as music, what i think is ****e, other like, fair enough.

The thing is, it's not the British virus, it's a strain of a virus which probably arrived in Britain from Italy, which originated in China, but because of our superior laboratories, was first discovered in Britain. Other politicians describing it as the strain found in Britain are far more accurate and less aggressive towards the UK.

I could imagine the reaction on here, if Johnson described it as German, if it had happened the other way round.

Lol...you have to be having a laugh. Only you could get competitive about being the first to ‘discover’ a ‘strain of a virus’.

If a variant of the virus was to be initially identified in Germany then I’m sure it would be called the ‘German virus’ or the ‘German variant’ for exactly the same reason as other variants are referred to as ‘British’ or ‘South African’.

I never expected to say this Ram, but you really have become a bit of a ‘snowflake’ over all this.

We should adopt a strain naming technique akin to hurricanes, named of course after women: Angela, Bernardette, Caroline etc

Did Johnson call the virus strain from the mink farms in Denmark, the Danish virus?

I'm sorry, but only you and a few other blind EU supporters fail to see any wrong doing by anyone in the EU.

You'd be first in the queue to call out Johnson, if he'd acted in such a manner.

Hand on heart, I really, really wouldn’t, and I don’t know what he called it.

I’m sure you and Andy could come up with something snappy like, ‘The Danish strain of the virus (mink farm variation) originally from China’.

Me? In the interests of brevity...I’d just call it the ‘Danish strain’. I really don’t care where they’re first discovered...no sense of shame or pride. No competition...I just wish we’d concentrate on getting sufficient vaccine out quickly enough and stop having to have our inadequacy in providing for the needs of poor children pointed out by a footballer. Let’s concentrate on what’s important.
