Thread: Paul Warne - The Accidental Manager

  1. #71
This thread sums up the modern way of thinking in the world: it's so binary. You're either pro Trump or anti Trump. The EU is wonderful or the EU is the devil incarnate. Twitter are bastions for democracy or Twitter and big tech pose a real and present danger to free speech.

You either love Warne and see him as our dear leader or you believe hes a jumped up fitness coach who is way out of his depth managing at this level.

It's all so black and white. Whatever happened to all the grey? All the nuances?

Personally speaking, I can clearly see the benefits warne has brought to our club: the image he portrays in the media, the community work, the improved training facilities, etc. But at the same I can also see that he, and Barker, often fall well short with their in-game tactics. Why is it that commenting on what I see as bizarre substitutions (for example) makes me a pariah and less of a supporter?

We need to stop the polarisation and bring back the middle ground. Warne has some great attributes but he obviously needs some fresh tactical assistance.

That's a fair post, my main gripe with some of our fans is the criticism of Warne for things that we don't even know have happened. The constant sniping about him being weak and being too friendly with his players when in reality none of us have any idea what happens behind closed doors. Giving opinions on substitutions is fair enough because they actually happened, some will agree that they weren't great, some won't, that's fair enough. It's the of giving opinions, especially ones being critical and often personally insulting to Warne about scenarios that we don't know even happened and are often invented in the mind of the poster that do my head in on here.

That isn't aimed at anything on this particular thread by the way, just a general observation.

Yes a decent summary that Grumpster

Nothing wrong with constructive criticism or expecting improvements but sometimes it's taken too far.
Giving up on him and resigned that we need a change then fine but broadcasting it repetitively doesn't help

Giving the lad a chance seems fair to me

I don’t think he needs tactical assistance to be honest. I don’t think he’s really out of his depth either.

Do I think he’s the best manager in the league. No, I don’t. Add another £40k a week to our wage bill and I think he’d work wonders though

He’s getting too much abuse for doing a job where, to a degree, he’s got his hands tied behind his back.

I agree, in a league where he's been given a competitive budget he's won two promotions, in a league where he's been given a bottom three budget (and bottom three by a considerable amount) he's struggled to win games. I think it's pretty obvious why.

Well he's had 4 years of a fair chance so far.

What a load of rubbish. We out played a Prem side because Warny got the tactics correct on the day and the players turned up. The skill of the players is there for all to see but it seems that the players are motivated for personal reasons and not by our manager and his staff which is supposed to be the case.

So we out played a Premier League side because Warne got the tactics correct on the day and the players turned up? And yet we still lost. Why was that? Would it be because the team with the big budget had more quality to see them over the line despite playing poorly on the day. Or was there some other reason?

You didn't think that post through.

What? Liverpool lost 7-2 to villa didnt they! Does that mean that Villa have more quality than Liverpool?

The point I am making (which is obviously over your head) is that we have players who can play football but yet our manager and his staff seem to think hoofball is the best we can do against the rest of the Championship teams.

If Warny stopped with this were not good enough attitude maybe we would get the best out of our players. Warny has used the excuse about injuries and losing players from the squad etc yet we go out and do that against Everton! Something is wrong somewhere dont you think?
