It was actually Sylvian Sylvain - not his real name.

Despite the Punk Rock thing starting over here in '75, I think McClaren manufactured the Pistols, based on earlier 'punk bands' such as New York Dolls & The Ramones who were already doing something similar in the US.

It proved to be very popular in the UK which was probably due to the socio-political-economic situation in the mid-seventies.

What ever happened to the Old Grey Whistle Test????

I was a ****ager and shouldn't have been watching what was looked upon as an old man's programme but I saw many bands on there for the first time Bondie, Tom Petty, Gary Numan all spring to mind.

Rock Goes To College was similar - first time I saw Be Bop Deluxe, Police, Jon Otway & Wild Willie Barrett, etc

Sorry for the spelling mistake on his name. I should no better.

Being into punk myself I’ve always considered The Stooges to be the ones that brought it to the forefront originally.

Wasn’t Surfin Bird a big influence on the genre.

I love the clash and stiff little fingers. I can’t take the pistols seriously.

    The Thurminators? They are ace.

Baz runs The Bridge now. It looks great since he did it up. Hopefully get back open soon.
