I'm not sure if we have a moderator at the moment. I seem to think I read on here that Swale no longer did the job.

navy always used to talk about his son on here. I often wonder what his lad thinks of his dad’s postings on this board. Is he at the age where he sniggers and thinks it’s funny, or is he more mature and embarrassed by his dad making an exhibition of himself?

I brought up two boys and have several grandchildren and I like to think I’ve led by example. I hope navy’s lad’s got other family members or teachers that he can use as a role model.

I accept that I have a lower threshold than most when it comes to acceptance of language I would describe as 'bad' but which has now become part of life. I too try to lead by what I think is example. The board is not as bad as it used to be though. When I asked why someone had used certain words the reply was 'because it makes me look big'.

Like many things in life you get out what you put in and navy is another example. I have noticed that if you are civil to him he's the same back. Its only when the board quickly disintegrates into the petty squabbling that he lets himself down badly by usually being the first to rise to the bait.

My lad doesn't read this board and he's got several great role models thank you very much.
