I think in normal times we can reject a bid like £300k for someone with as much promise as Neilson. But right now we cant.

It depends how old the player is, so how long we've been paying and developing them is a factor. The younger they are the less it would be. That's how I understand it anyway.

Banks was a January signing, so no training development fee. Freeman was reported as only five figures. Think Allan was about the £400K.

Clubs are categorised depending on how much it costs each club in training fees. For example signing a kid from Celtic will cost you more than signing a kid from Hamilton as they will be spending more on the training & development of their players. That is then multiplied by the number of years training that has taken place. That's how a fee is decided.

I'm not so sure. If the interest is real I think we'd accept. There's no guarantee the boy will want to sign another extension next summer, which leaves us having to decide if we think his value is going to go up significantly between now and either this summer or next January, which is when we'd be able to command any kind of fee? Given he is a bit part player only, I don't imagine we'll get much more than £300K in the summer and probably significantly less next January with him being out of contract a few months later.
