The biggest thing to fear for Saturday is our own low confidence, not the opposition.
Second half especially, we were very good. 66% possession away from home. On another day Sporle sclafs his shot and Shankland controls that through ball. The defending at set pieces as you say however, is diabolical and needs sorted.

I agree. Although It's a pity we needed to be 2-0 down for Mellon to take off Clark and us to start playing, at times, some very good football. This may have been flattering though by Motherwell sitting back on to their 2-0 lead. Saturday (if it's on) will tell us a lot about our mentality and if we are up for the fight.

Deary me, 'sack the manager' already. He has the same sh1t team we had last year, hasn't been allowed to spend a penny and you want him out the door. OK then 'chairman' where are you getting his compo from when we've got no cash and who do you suggest we hire that will do any better with these powder puff clowns that STILL can't pass a ball or defend a corner?!? Come on then, answers on a postcard please...

We have prob played worse than we have in the past 2 games and scrapped results. Defensively we have regressed badly the last 6-8 weeks, before that we weren’t conceding regularly from set pieces. In a week we have lost the opening goal from a set play in each of our 3 matches, that’s an absolute killer and sinks you mentally to go on and win a match when you lose the first goal knowing how little opportunities you create.

The thing is though after watching the Sportscene hilights there it's noticeable that the 1st goal was caused by Shankland losing his man then Clark comes off the post to try and attack the ball!!!wtf is Clark doing?if he stays on the post then we don't concede there. It's basics. MM must be pulling his hair out at moments like that because instances like that and the terrible touch that Harkes takes at their 2nd goal is purely down to bad judgement then a lack of technique and it's killing us.

The two goals are avoidable which is annoying. He said we would go back to basics before this game but didn't look like that.

Basics at corners. Winning individual battles/matching runs. Attack the ball. Simple stuff. None of these set pieces we've conceded have been well worked moves by the opposition, its just literally be a ball in the box! Needs sorted pronto

2nd goal. I actually thought Smith's pass into Harkes was a dangerous one. At that pace on that park into a dangerous area of the park. Harkes touch is shocking. Needs to take that first touch to protect the ball from the player. The reaction when we lost the ball from a few of the players is poor. Then not putting enough pressure on the ball. Smith, Butcher then Edwards all letting motherwell players do what they want. Frustrating

The manager has undoubtedly been dealt the worst hand of any new Utd manager I can think of. Coming late into a squad in the middle of a pandemic. A squad which clearly needed strengthening. Being unable to strengthen because of the Covid/Hearts situation. Being left very little time to then make signings once that situation was resolved, arguably forced into a couple of panic buys in Edwards and Hoti and the loan of Bolton. Then being unable to make any signings the following window because of the pandemic and the mismanagement of the previous regime leaving us with no money.
He's came here & been sold on a big club with ambition, one with an owner who no doubt said he was willing to invest in the first team to get us where we want and he has had absolutely nothing of that in his time here. He's having to deal with the absolute horsesh*te of the previous regime who spunked far too much money than we could ever afford to on an entire squad of players in January 2019 who were, let's face it, without Shankland, not good enough to win the Championship, never mind be a force in the Premiership.
Whist I agree there's a few baffling decisions being made with regards personnel on the pitch, the managers time has been made unbelievably difficult by outside influences. In my ideal world we see this season through, Mellon gets those promised funds to then bring in HIS OWN TEAM and we see how that team then fares next season.

Yes we need to back Micky at this time. Add to that we have no alternative and I would not want a new man coming into this now.

Certainly most difficult it has been for a while.

I do think the squad we have is good enough to stay up.

Hopefully the terrible run can be ended soon and then we will all be happy.

Has to start on Saturday as the matches we have after that are not easy
