We win that game last night if it wasn't for two stupid individual errors. Clark comes off the post to try & win a ball that is NEVER his to win. Stay on the post, no goal. Simple.
Harkes then tries to control a fairly straightforward pass which he doesn't and loses possession. He then casually tracks back allowing two one-two's in front of him without challenge that then lead to the goal.
Whilst Mellon can be held accountable for team selection, he can't be held accountable for players making these stupid errors once they're on the park.
A lot of hard work & effort went into that second half last night to try and undo stupid brainfart mistakes but we just didn't have enough. If we can take that last 45mins into Saturdays game we'll be in with a chance.

    Hey guys!

New to Mad so just wanted to say Hello.

I didn’t managed to watch the game on dufctv (I live in connecticut) so I don’t know what we were like. Before the season I just wanted us to stay up and admit that after the first round of games I thought maybe we could challenge top 6.

First few games of the season we created a lot of chances then all of a sudden we couldn’t whatsoever.

But yeah I know this post wasn’t really about the Motherwell game but again just wanted to say Hi

He's came here & been sold on a big club with ambition, one with an owner who no doubt said he was willing to invest in the first team to get us where we want and he has had absolutely nothing of that in his time here. He's having to deal with the absolute horsesh*te of the previous regime who spunked far too much money than we could ever afford to on an entire squad of players in January 2019 who were, let's face it, without Shankland, not good enough to win the Championship, never mind be a force in the Premiership.
Whist I agree there's a few baffling decisions being made with regards personnel on the pitch, the managers time has been made unbelievably difficult by outside influences. In my ideal world we see this season through, Mellon gets those promised funds to then bring in HIS OWN TEAM and we see how that team then fares next season.
100% mate. Honestly despair at folk wanting rid of the manager already. No wonder football is in the state it's in. Folk have absolutely no patience nowadays, how can any manager get a chance to build his own team under these circumstances?

    Yes well said.

I have a feeling Mellon will be looking to extend what happened in second half. Pawlett will probably start. Surely time to end the experiment of Clark in midfield ?!?

Nothing would make me happier. I'm sick of of moaning about it.

Brilliant post and right on the money for me. No one is saying Mellon is brilliant, but when you actually think about what he's had to deal with, would any other manager have done any better? There are moments, as you said, that baffle at times, but what manager hasn't had these moments? He needs time. Bringing in a new manager with 11 games left with no chance to bring in players etc is a recipe for disaster.

I 'bumped into' (couldn't really say I met him) Micky when he was at the JYM gates with Bo. I asked him (somewhat inanely perhaps) how he was enjoying life at DUFC. 'Loving it, loving it', was the reply. 'And that despite the very unusual circumstances', I proffered, 'could have picked a better time', to which he replied that the worst thing was 'not getting to meet the fans'.
