So therefor even though Ardley was very bad from the start he must be given time, for no other reason than what you said above.
How much time. relegation season, last season, and now this, so that is over 2 and a half seasons, all to see if he would eventually come good??
Back to the original question, as in Ardleys case, we have had to stick with him for more than 2 1/2 seasons, no matter what, even though he is one of the worst mangers, just because we cant keep sacking managers-??
So in other words I never said any manager should have a minimum of 2-3 seasons. You just made that up, disappointing.

If we had sacked him after his first 12 games that would have meant we would have had at least 4 different managers in a single season! Read that back to yourself and think I wonder whether that would have guaranteed safety? Lol. Also remember the chairman had massively overspent, run out of money was soon to put the club up for sale so how do expect Hardy to pay off Ardley (like he had to with Nolan and Kewell) and then pay for a new management team to come in and rescue us? Magic beans?

I've comprehensively answered your question, if the relegation season hadn't have been such a disaster from start to finish and we hadn't have been relegated then Ardley would never have had 2.5 seasons.

Don't forget we had 3 managers that season, and we changed owners and entered Non league. That isn't the norm for any club, that's part of the reason he's had as long as he had IMO.

Hardy couldn't afford to sack him, the cookie jar was empty. The only option was the Danes sacked him as soon as they took over. They didn't. Since that decision he hasn't descwred to be sacked in their opinion and many Notts fans.

If he fails this season then he goes, why can't you be patient? We've wasted so many years and seasons in the past with comical chopping and changing of managers what's one more wasted season?

It was indeed gut wrenching, a complete sh!tshow, strangely comical at times, definitely embarrassing to a whole new level to what we've witnessed before and perhaps somewhat inevitable.

Alas you can't change the past only the future.

True but someone once said, ''A wise man will use his past to guide his future''. Actually it was me who said it cos I just made the 4ker up, but that's bye the bye. Ardley will forever be known as the manager who oversaw our relegation from the FL. Whether it be 2 seasons later or 20 seasons later. If he redeems himself this season, then fair do's. Whatever you may think, Laddo, Ardley is not the Messiah, he's just a very naughty Del-Boy-a-like.

so to recap , the players he bought in were no better than we had and he let his natural goal scorer leave the club on loan.
if as people say attitudes were the issue then Ardley didn't really seem to challenge them, just replace them with inferior.
Compare his period to that of Kewell who had identified a trouble causer or weak link in the team (stead) and was in the process of ridding him from the club and had no transfer window to work with.
Signed I believe two players both who were without a club as this was is only avenue to improve the teams well as promoting youth from within the club.
Basically making brave decisions with what he had to work with, challenging the old guard.
Kewell made a better go of it with less tools so to speak , Ardley came in and failed despite being backed in the transfer marker and being able to sign numerous players
also I still don't see why if you see a problem on the pitch why a manager wouldn't act there and then.
If he is unable to communicate instructions then he must have coaching limitations , and wouldn't alternative approaches to a game be used in daily training ready to be implemented when needed ?
wasting 45 mins of a game to alter a problem a need seems an awful waste of game time
perhaps that is just me , I haven't NAs qualifications.
So, my question was re vast sums of money. What NA actually did was move a player out to enable him to bring players in. Rightly or wrongly, he tried to shake things up. Kewell did deserve more time.

Changes, you make some fair comments. But, I also think NA’s approach was fair. How many times do you hear, need to get them in at halftime to make some changes.

Loving this new-style board, where laddo doesn't have endless repetitive personal arguments with the same few posters any more.

I hope everyone is enjoying it as much as I am.

I almost agree with Laddo. God help me. Yes, Ardley should have been sacked after Swindon game. No, he shouldn't be sacked now as it's pointless. When he fails to get us promoted this season he should go when his contact expires or as soon as Notts get someone better is in place. To be honest, if we get promoted he should still go.

It certainly leaves in no doubt the person who is responsible for the majority of the petty squabbling that goes on, on this board, that's for sure.

If by any chance (and pigs might fly) he managed to get us promoted this season, we would be facing another relegation if he was to remain has manager..

It really is a revelation, a breath of fresh air and gives us NCM users a feeling of being reborn. I too am loving it. So different from the old style.
