Comes down to the fact he wouldn't of got the penalty if he didn't go down. Always been the case, when do you see someone fouled, stay up and get the penalty? Not often. This encourages players to go down
he pulled his arm in the air. his elbow hit mitrovic on the head. was it intent, prob not but he raised his arm and gave the ref a decision. dont put you arm in that position then he stays on the pitch. simples.
I believe Lee Mason was on var and obviously brought this to the attention of Dean, so this puts Dean under pressure thinking Mason thinks it’s a sending off and bingo, that’s the way I’ve went.
For two top flight refs to get this wrong is very, very worrying !!
Do they seriously understand the game !
I think the clenched fist theory is that if you've clenched your fist and elbowed someone you have meant to whereas if your fist is not clenched you've elbowed them accidentally . Which you can see to a point if you are stood but if you are jumping for a high ball you are more likely to have your fists clenched whilst moving your arms anyway
I must admit I wasn't against var when they first fetched it in but having seen some of the decisions being made even with var I'm losing all faith in it . At the end of the day it's down to new rules making it almost a non contact sport and the decisions are down to two useless referees not just one![]()
None of the managers like it either, and not just those that’s been in the rough end of decisions
Need to put a time limit/no of screen shots on the VAR decision making
If they can't view it twice and see an issue then it ain't "Clear and Obvious"
