The Preston and Cardiff games shows the anomoly in sport that makes it beyond rational analysis.

Warne rested key players for Preston to target the next 2 home games, Cardiff and QPR. Yet we beat Preston and lose to Cardiff. And you could argue we put in a much better performance against Cardiff.

The ref also bottled 3 penalty decisions for Cardiff. Two handballs and a foul on Wilson. Out of those I thought the handball in the first half was a decent shout. Foul on Wilson, he didn't take the ball and did take Wilson, but I think the conditions by that stage were making it difficult as it was very slippery.

I think the ref was pretty poor for both sides but I don't think you lost the game because of the ref. Outside of the goals the best chance actually fell to Morrison when your keeper made an outstanding save.

I agree about the handball in the first half, I thought it was a pen and the replay clearly shows it. Maybe the Smith push was a case of the ref “evening things up”? With my biased eyes I never even saw the other two you mentioned. No excuses for the shocking lack of offside flags in the second half though.

As you say, crap ref, but not why we lost.

I’m actually a bit embarrassed about some of the comments here about Cardiff after what other teams fans have said about us. They did what they needed to do, and seemed to cope better with the snow at the end (from what I could actually see).

Not a damaging defeat for us, provided it’s a one off. Rather than blaming Victor for the opener, I’d like to know how come we didn’t have anyone on the halfway line to at least try to challenge Ojo’s breakaway.

Overall it was a good performance from us with Smith in particular looking great. Sometimes you just don’t win.

I’m not sure anyone is blaming Johansson, he’d normally throw himself at balls like that but didn’t in this game, of course the defender who should have been marking was to blame but then again their player might have been ready to pounce and did a good job in scoring

I think your manager was right and it just didn't fall for you. 10 corners to our 0 in the first half.

I thought you had a better first half than us but we probably shaded the second half.

You are a decent unit and on another day will win a game like that.

I think with our new manager the city players seemed to stretch for challenges a bit more and go the extra mile while defending. Not pretty but two fine pieces of quality for our goals. Your goal was also excellent.

Always like to see Rotherham do well. Good luck for the rest of the season, you should stay up by a country mile.

Ref should have abandoned it when Victor went down taking a goal kick. Could have been a serious injury. I think it was 1-1 at the time.

Johansson he's a good shot stopper but no command of his area so is that going to cost us with him in goal? Robertson good to see him match fit. Crooks & Smith our other standout players on the night. None of our players had a bad game. Conditions went against us 2nd half. Got to more or less keep same side against QPR. Keeper? A McDonald for Wood. Giles for Harding.

Couldnt agree more.To me ,Harding is a liabilty, cant pass or control a ball. Not that good at tracking a man either.

Earlier in season this board was pretty much in agreement that Harding was our best summer signing. Calling him a liability is ridiculous, though he is clearly out of form and may benefit from a rest.

I have always thought he is a liability,he cant do the basics. If you look back through previous games, you will find his mistakes often give opponents a chance.Versus Preston, his miscontrol led to that Sinclair "goal".Being caught in posession, losing control, sliced clearances, have all directly led to chances for opponents.IMHO, he is a weak link, i appreciate other may see it differently.
